Chase points stop transferring to World of Hyatt at 1:1 for Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cardmembers on October 1, 2026. From that date the rate is 4:3, and Chase's own example is blunt: transfer 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points and you get 750 World of Hyatt points.

If you applied for one of those cards on or after June 15, 2026, you already have the 4:3 rate. Everyone else has until September 30. Our Chase transfer partners guide covers what the rest of the list still pays.

What Changes on October 1, 2026

Chase states the new rate on the Sapphire Preferred product page in one sentence: "Your Ultimate Rewards points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a rate of 4:3. That means if you transfer 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points, you will get 750 World of Hyatt points."

The same page sets the cutoff for existing cardmembers: "If you opened your card account prior to June 15, 2026, your points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a rate of 1:1 through September 30, 2026."

The Ink Business Preferred page carries the change in the same terms, dated: "Starting October 1, 2026, your Ultimate Rewards points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a rate of 4:3."

So there are two dates, and which one applies to you depends on when your account opened rather than on anything you do now.

Which Chase Cards Are Affected

Chase has published the 4:3 change on two product pages: Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred. Its June 15, 2026 announcement describes the change as effective October 1, 2026 for existing Sapphire Preferred cardmembers, and effective immediately for anyone applying on or after June 15, 2026.

That gives three groups:

  • Opened a Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred before June 15, 2026. You transfer at 1:1 through September 30, 2026. From October 1 you transfer at 4:3.
  • Applied on or after June 15, 2026. You are already at 4:3. Nothing changes for you on October 1.
  • Sapphire Reserve. A Sapphire Reserve transfer screen showed World of Hyatt at 1,000 to 1,000 on September 2, 2026. See the next section for what that does and does not settle.

What a Sapphire Reserve Transfer Screen Shows for World of Hyatt

We can now answer this, and the answer comes from a place worth naming precisely.

Chase's Ultimate Rewards transfer list, viewed on a Sapphire Reserve account on September 2, 2026, shows World of Hyatt at 1,000 points to 1,000 points. All fourteen of that card's partners were at 1:1 on that screen, ten airlines and four hotel programs.

Chase does not publish that ratio on a page you can read without logging in. We checked both Reserve product pages and Chase's own Ultimate Rewards hub, and none of them states a transfer ratio to World of Hyatt or to any partner. Chase's June 15 announcement does not mention Reserve at all.

So the honest version has two halves. What a cardholder's own screen showed on September 2 is a Sapphire Reserve transferring to Hyatt at 1:1. What Chase has published is a 4:3 change for Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred and nothing about Reserve either way.

Those are not the same claim, and the gap between them matters on October 1. A screen is a statement of the rate today. It is not an announcement about the rate next month, and Chase has made no announcement about Reserve in either direction.

Two limits on what we saw. It was a personal Sapphire Reserve, so Sapphire Reserve for Business remains unconfirmed by anything we have looked at. And the only World of Hyatt reference on the Reserve for Business page is Explorist status at a spending threshold, which is a different benefit entirely.

If you hold either Reserve, your own transfer screen is the authoritative answer for your account, and Chase points you there itself. Its Ink Business Preferred page says to "log in to the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal to see transfer rates for all partners." Check it before you transfer, and check it again on October 1.

What a Chase to Hyatt Transfer Is Worth on Each Side of the Date

Use Chase's own numbers rather than anyone's arithmetic.

Through September 30, 2026 From October 1, 2026
Rate 1:1 4:3
Chase's example 1,000 points transfer as 1,000 1,000 points transfer as 750

That is the whole of it, and it is deliberately the whole of it. What a given balance becomes, and whether the change matters to you, depends on the balance you hold and the redemption you had in mind. Those are your numbers, not ours.

Two things do not change on either side of the date. Chase transfers are one-way and final once made, and World of Hyatt award pricing is set by Hyatt's own category chart rather than by Chase.

What to Check Before October 1

Four things, and none of them is advice about whether to move points.

Which card you actually hold. Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred are the two Chase names the published change attaches to. Reserve is a different product with a different page that says nothing on this.

When your account opened. Before June 15, 2026 puts you in the grandfathered group through September 30. On or after that date and you are already at 4:3, so the deadline is not yours.

The live rate in your own portal. Chase directs cardmembers there for partner rates, and it will show what your account actually gets rather than what a product page describes in general.

Whether Hyatt is where your points were going anyway. Chase transfers to a long partner list, and Hyatt is one line on it. Our Chase Trifecta guide covers how the three cards work together, and the Sapphire Preferred review covers what the card does beyond transfers.

What We Are Not Telling You

We are not telling you to transfer before the deadline, or to hold. Moving points is irreversible and the right answer depends on a redemption you have found and we have not.

What we will say is that the deadline is real, it is published by Chase on its own pages, and it is four weeks out. The date is the fact. The decision is yours.
