Chase is cutting the World of Hyatt transfer ratio on some of its Ultimate Rewards cards. Starting October 1, 2026, Ultimate Rewards points transfer to World of Hyatt at 4:3 for existing Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cardmembers. Chase's example: 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points become 750 World of Hyatt points.
Chase announced the change with the Sapphire Preferred refresh on June 15, 2026, and new Sapphire Preferred cardmembers who applied from that date have had the 4:3 rate from the start. For Sapphire Preferred accounts opened before that date, September 30, 2026 is the last day at 1:1, and Ink Business Preferred cardmembers move to 4:3 on October 1. What Changes on October 1
Chase's June 15 announcement sets out who moves to 4:3 and when:
- Sapphire Preferred, applied before June 15, 2026: 4:3 from October 1, 2026. Chase's card page says these accounts transfer to World of Hyatt at 1:1 through September 30, 2026.
- Sapphire Preferred, applied on or after June 15, 2026: 4:3 already.
- Ink Business Preferred: 4:3 from October 1, 2026, for existing cardmembers and for anyone who applies on or after that date. The Ink Business Preferred page says the same.
- Ink Plus and Corporate Flex: Chase's announcement says the change applies to existing cardmembers on these cards too, from October 1, 2026.
Chase's Sapphire Preferred page says Ultimate Rewards points transfer to most travel partners at 1:1, with World of Hyatt the exception at 4:3.
Before You Move Points
A deadline is a poor reason to move a balance you haven't planned around. Our piece on transferring points only when you have a booking makes the case.
So the deadline only helps if you'd have sent the points to Hyatt anyway. If your account still transfers at 1:1 and you have a specific stay with award space available, transferring what that booking needs by September 30 makes sense. Confirm the award is available before you move anything.
If you don't have a stay in mind, leave the points in Ultimate Rewards. Chase says Ultimate Rewards points don't expire as long as your account is open, so they'll keep while you decide, and you can still transfer to Hyatt after October 1, just at 4:3.
If You Hold Other Chase Cards
Chase's announcement names the Sapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred, Ink Plus and Corporate Flex. If you hold one of those alongside a Chase card that isn't on the list, check the transfer ratio each account shows in Ultimate Rewards before you move points. Chase's Ink page says to log in to Ultimate Rewards to see the transfer rates for all partners.

Where That Leaves You
Sapphire Preferred accounts opened before June 15, 2026 transfer to World of Hyatt at 1:1 through September 30, 2026. From October 1, 2026, those accounts and Ink Business Preferred cardmembers transfer at 4:3. If you have a Hyatt stay you can book now, move the points that booking needs by September 30 and book it. If you don't, keep the points in Ultimate Rewards, where they don't expire while your account is open.
