The best card for Admirals Club access is the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard, because it's the only card that comes with an Admirals Club membership. It costs $695 a year. Two cheaper Citi cards, the AAdvantage Globe and the Citi Strata Elite, each give four Admirals Club passes a year instead, which suits someone who visits a lounge a few times rather than every trip.
Which card is right depends on how often you fly American, whether you travel with guests, and whether you'd buy a membership anyway. This guide sets the three side by side using American's and Citi's own pages, read on October 19, 2026. Our Admirals Club access guide covers every other way in.
The Short Answer
- You fly American often, or travel with family: the Executive card. It includes an Admirals Club membership with up to 2 guests.
- You visit a lounge a few times a year on American: the Globe card. It includes 4 Admirals Club Globe Passes each calendar year.
- You want lounge access beyond American: the Strata Elite. It includes 4 Admirals Club passes each calendar year plus a Priority Pass Select membership.
Why a Card at All? What Membership Costs
American sells Admirals Club access directly, and its prices set the bar every card has to beat.
American's membership page lists membership rates that depend on your AAdvantage status when you buy. Since August 23, 2026, the listed rates for a membership with up to 2 guests run from $1,400 for an AAdvantage member down to $1,200 for an AAdvantage Executive Platinum member. The annual single membership costs $750 at every status level.
American also says an annual membership gives you, and up to 2 guests, access to more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges.
Two changes took effect on August 23, 2026, according to the same page:
- A new annual single membership, which gives individual access to nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges.
- Household memberships were discontinued. Current household memberships stay valid through their membership year.
For one visit, American sells a One-Day Pass for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
Those numbers frame the decision. A card that includes a membership competes with a $1,400 purchase. A card with four passes competes with four One-Day Passes.
Why All Three Cards Are Citi
Every card in this guide is issued by Citi. Citi became the exclusive issuer of AAdvantage credit cards in 2026, which we covered in our piece on the Citi and Barclays switchover. Two of the three are AAdvantage co-brand cards that earn miles. The third, the Strata Elite, earns Citi ThankYou points and adds Admirals Club passes as a perk.
Card 1: Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard
Annual fee: $695. Citi's page describes it as "the only card with Admirals Club membership."
Lounge access. Citi says membership includes unlimited visits for you and up to 2 guests or immediate family members to more than 100 Admirals Club lounges and partner lounges worldwide. American's access page lists primary Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard cardmembers among Admirals Club members.
Welcome offer. Citi's page lists a limited-time offer of 125,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months. Citi's terms say the bonus is not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi / AAdvantage Executive account in the past 48 months, or if you converted another Citi card on which you earned a new account bonus in the last 48 months into an Executive.
Earning. 4 miles per $1 on eligible American Airlines purchases, rising to 5 miles per $1 on those purchases for the rest of the year after $150,000 in purchases in a calendar year. Eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings earn more, and everything else earns 1 mile per $1.
Credits Citi lists:
- Up to $100 back each calendar year on inflight and eligible Admirals Club purchases.
- Up to $500 back each calendar year on eligible American Airlines Vacations packages, in two $250 halves.
- Up to $180 in Lyft credits a year, as a $15 credit after 3 eligible rides in a calendar month.
- Up to $120 back each calendar year on eligible prepaid Avis and Budget rentals.
- Up to $120 every 4 years for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee.
- First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries.
Authorized users. Citi lists up to 3 authorized users for an annual fee of $175, then $175 a year for each additional user.
Card 2: Citi / AAdvantage Globe Mastercard
Lounge access. Citi's Globe page says that every calendar year, cardmembers receive 4 Admirals Club Globe Passes with access to nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges. American's access page lists Citi / AAdvantage Globe cardholders as a separate access group.
Annual fee. Citi's page lists $350.
Other benefits Citi lists:
- Up to $240 back on Turo, as up to $30 per eligible trip.
- Up to $100 back each calendar year on inflight purchases on American Airlines flights.
- An annual Splurge Credit of up to $100 on up to two brands Citi names.
- Up to $120 every 4 years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.
- A companion certificate each year the membership renews, good for a qualifying round-trip main cabin domestic flight, with a $99 ticketing fee plus taxes and fees.
- First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries, and preferred boarding.
Four passes a year is a different product from a membership. It covers the cardmember's own visits, a few at a time, at the nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges.
Card 3: Citi Strata Elite Card
Annual fee: $595, per Citi's Strata Elite page and its pricing information.
Lounge access. Citi says that every calendar year, cardmembers receive 4 Admirals Club Citi Strata Elite Passes for access to nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges. It also includes a Priority Pass Select membership, which Citi describes as access to more than 1,500 airport lounges worldwide.
Currency. This card earns Citi ThankYou points, not AAdvantage miles. That makes it the only one of the three that isn't an American Airlines co-brand card.
Other benefits Citi lists:
- Up to $300 off a hotel stay of 2 nights or more each calendar year, booked through Citi's travel site.
- Up to $200 each calendar year in Splurge Credits on up to two brands, which include American Airlines.
- Up to $200 each calendar year with Blacklane, in two $100 halves.
- Up to $120 every four years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.
Citi also lists banking relationship credits for qualifying Citigold and Citigold Private clients.
What a Visit Gets You
The cards differ in how you get in. Once inside, the lounge is the same, and access to the small grab-and-go Provisions lounge at Charlotte follows the same rules.
Citi's Globe page describes the Admirals Club as a place to "relax and unwind with complimentary drinks and snacks, stay connected with free Wi-Fi and much more." Its Strata Elite page mentions "a selection of snacks, complimentary cocktails, personal travel assistance and more" inside each of the nearly 50 lounges.
That last point is easy to overlook. Personal travel assistance means agents who can help with rebooking and seat changes. On a day of cancellations, that can matter more than the snacks.
Passes Versus Membership in Practice
Passes and membership feel similar until you use them.
A pass is one visit. With the Globe or Strata Elite, each visit uses one of your four passes for the calendar year. When the four are gone, you're back to paying for a One-Day Pass or finding another way in.
A membership is ongoing. With the Executive card, Citi describes unlimited visits for the cardmember, plus up to 2 guests or immediate family members. You don't count visits.
The network is different too. American's membership page and Citi's Executive page both say membership reaches more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges. Both Citi pass cards say their passes cover nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges. If partner lounges abroad are part of your plan, the membership covers more ground.
Guests change the math fastest. A family of three using passes goes through them far faster than one traveler does. The Executive card's guest allowance is the single biggest difference between the three for anyone who flies with company.
Comparing the Three
How Often You Visit
Four visits or fewer a year. Either the Globe or the Strata Elite covers you with passes. You wouldn't be paying for a membership you barely use.
More than four visits a year. Passes run out. Citi says the Executive card's membership includes unlimited visits, so frequent visitors come out ahead with it.
Who Travels With You
Traveling alone. Passes and the single membership both work.
Traveling with a partner or family. The Executive card's membership admits up to 2 guests or immediate family members. With household memberships discontinued, that matters more than it did before August 23.
Which Lounges
The Executive card's membership reaches more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges, according to Citi and American. The Globe and Strata Elite passes reach nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges.
The Strata Elite adds Priority Pass Select, which covers lounges well beyond American's network.
What Else You Get for the Fee
Each card carries credits that can offset some of its fee, but only if you use them. The Executive card's credits lean toward American Airlines Vacations, Lyft and Avis. The Globe's lean toward Turo and inflight purchases. The Strata Elite's lean toward hotels, Blacklane and the brands on its splurge list.
Access Without a Card
A card isn't the only route in, and for some travelers it isn't the best one.
American's access page says you can get in based on membership, class of service or AAdvantage status. It lists:
- Qualifying First and Business passengers on qualifying international, transcontinental or other domestic flights marketed and operated by American, a oneworld airline or Aer Lingus.
- Qualifying AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro and Platinum members on qualifying international flights.
- Non-AAdvantage oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members on departing or arriving flights marketed and operated by American or a oneworld airline.
- One-Day Pass customers.
- U.S. military personnel traveling in uniform on a same-day flight operated by American.
That list is why our access guide points out an odd result: a partner-program elite can have broader access than an AAdvantage Platinum member.
Which One We Would Pick
If you fly American most weeks, the Executive card. The membership alone is priced at $1,400 for a general AAdvantage member, and the card includes one for you and up to 2 guests.
If you fly American a handful of times a year, the Globe card. Four passes cover the occasional long layover without paying for a full membership.
If you want lounges on every airline, the Strata Elite. The Admirals Club passes are a bonus on top of Priority Pass Select.
If you rarely fly American, none of these on lounge grounds alone. A One-Day Pass at $79 is the cheaper answer for a single visit, and you can buy it with 7,900 miles instead of cash.

- Count your likely visits for the next year, and who would be with you.
- Price the alternative. Compare the card's fee with American's membership price for your status, or with One-Day Passes.
