Chase and Air Canada refreshed the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Card on September 10, 2026. The annual fee is now $195, and in return cardmembers get automatic Aeroplan 25K Status, 15% off eligible Air Canada award flights, up to $100 a year in Air Canada credits and a new 3X travel category.

The changes took effect the same day for new and existing cardmembers. If you already hold the card, you have the new benefits now, and you will meet the new fee at your next renewal.

The Fee Went Up

Chase's pricing and terms page for the card now lists an annual membership fee of $195. The pricing page Chase used before the refresh lists $95.

That is the number every existing cardmember should start from. The rest of this piece is about whether the new benefits cover the extra cost for you.

What the Refresh Adds

The Chase release labels each change as new or updated. Here is what it lists.

Automatic Aeroplan 25K Status. No spending requirement. Chase says 25K Status brings Priority Check-In and Priority Boarding in Zone 2, plus 5 eUpgrade Credits each year as a Core Benefit.

Up to 5X on Air Canada. That is 3X from the card on Air Canada purchases, plus 2X from Air Canada on eligible flights when you travel as a 25K member. The status is what unlocks the second part.

3X on travel. A new category.

2X on dining, groceries and gas. Dining includes takeout and eligible delivery. Everything else earns 1X.

15% off eligible Air Canada award flights. The discount applies when you book with Aeroplan points.

Up to $100 a year in Air Canada statement credits. It comes as up to two $50 credits, one in each half of the year, when you make eligible transactions.

A 4th Day Free on car rentals, starting January 2027. It applies at more than 11,000 locations when you book four days in one reservation with Aeroplan points.

Chase also says cardmembers get Star Alliance Recognition.

What Stays the Same

The existing benefits carry over. The release lists:

  • A $120 credit toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS every four years.
  • A 4th Night Free, which Chase describes as redeeming Aeroplan points for 3 consecutive hotel nights in the same booking.
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • Pay Yourself Back for recent travel, dining, grocery and gas purchases.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance, baggage delay insurance, trip delay reimbursement and an auto rental collision damage waiver.
  • World Elite Mastercard benefits.

The New Welcome Offer

For a limited time, new cardmembers can earn up to 115,000 bonus Aeroplan points in two parts:

  • 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
  • 40,000 more after spending $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months from account opening.

The first part is a normal welcome offer. The second is a big spending target, and it is worth being honest with yourself about whether you would reach it on spending you already have.

Air Canada's own card page calls it "our best offer ever."

Who Comes Out Ahead

The fee rose by a set amount. Whether the new benefits cover it depends on how you use Air Canada.

You fly Air Canada a few times a year. This is the cardmember Chase built the refresh for. The 25K Status, the upgrade credits and the extra 2X on flights only pay off if you are on Air Canada planes. The $100 in Air Canada credits works the same way.

You book Air Canada awards with points. The 15% discount applies to eligible Air Canada flight redemptions. If you redeem for Air Canada flights regularly, that discount grows with every booking.

You held the card for groceries and dining. Those categories now earn 2X. Gas joins them at 2X, and travel is new at 3X. Compare that with what you earn on the same spending with other cards before your renewal date.

What Chase and Air Canada Said

"Our goal with the refreshed Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Card is to deliver new value that makes the card even more compelling for people frequently traveling from the U.S. to Canada and beyond," said Chris Cracchiolo, President of Co-Brand Cards at Chase.

Scott O'Leary, Vice President of Loyalty and Product at Air Canada, pointed to "automatic Aeroplan 25K Status, savings on eligible flights, car and hotel redemptions, and new ways to earn on everyday spending."

Both quotes describe the frequent Air Canada flyer. That is the clearest signal of who the $195 version is for.

What Existing Cardmembers Should Do

  1. Look for the 25K Status in your Aeroplan account. The release says it is automatic.
  2. Note your renewal month. That is when the new fee reaches you.
  3. Use the Air Canada credits. Each $50 needs an eligible transaction in its half of the year.
  4. Decide before renewal. If you fly Air Canada, the refresh likely suits you. If you do not, review your options before the fee posts.
