Business class to Brussels is nonstop from five US cities on Brussels Airlines, United and Delta, and the best-value points route is usually a Star Alliance partner award through Aeroplan or Turkish Miles&Smiles. If you want a flat bed, skip Icelandair's Saga Premium, which is a recliner.

Brussels doesn't draw the search volume of Paris, London or Rome, and that's where the value is. Here's where the nonstops go, which programs to price, which points feed them and how to be sure the seat is flat.

Where the Nonstops Go

Brussels Airport's summer 2026 schedule lists five US nonstop destinations: Atlanta, Chicago, Newark, New York and Washington. The carriers are Brussels Airlines, United and Delta.

Brussels Airlines flies New York (JFK). United flies Newark and, per the airport's schedule, Chicago and Washington. Delta flies from Atlanta after ending its New York flights in January 2026. Schedules change by season, so confirm your route in the airline's timetable before you book.

If you're west of Chicago, you'll connect, either in the US or at a European hub such as Frankfurt, Zurich or Vienna on Lufthansa Group airlines. Those partners are bookable with Star Alliance miles.

Award Booking: Which Program to Price

Run each of these searches for your dates, because award prices move and a guide can't give you the current number.

Air Canada Aeroplan. Aeroplan prices Star Alliance partner awards by distance, and Air Canada raised several partner business class bands on June 1, 2026. Its site books partner space, including Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and United, so you can search and ticket online. It's the program I'd check first because of how little friction there is. It takes points from Chase, Amex, Capital One and Bilt.

Turkish Miles&Smiles. Turkish prices Star Alliance partner awards to Europe by region, and it has been the low-mileage option in the past. Its charts have changed more than once, so check the current chart before you plan around it. The catch is that Turkish's own site often doesn't show partner space; you find the seat on United or Aeroplan, then call Turkish to ticket it. Citi ThankYou Points transfer to Turkish.

Avianca LifeMiles. LifeMiles books Star Alliance partners with a better website than Turkish's. It receives points from Amex, Citi and Capital One, and it runs transfer bonuses often, so check whether one is live before you transfer.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue. Flying Blue's monthly Promo Rewards discount selected routes for a short booking window, and our Flying Blue Promo Rewards for October 2026 article covers the current list. Flying Blue takes points from Chase, Amex, Citi and Capital One.

Which Points Go Where

If you hold Chase points, price Aeroplan and Flying Blue. Chase doesn't transfer to Turkish or LifeMiles. Amex points reach Aeroplan, LifeMiles and Flying Blue. Citi points are the ones that reach Turkish, along with LifeMiles and Flying Blue. Capital One points reach Aeroplan, LifeMiles and Flying Blue.

Transfers are usually one way, so find a seat first. Search the partner's site or a tool such as the ones in our guide to award search engines, confirm the space, then transfer. Our guide to why points transfers are one way explains the risk.

Which Business Class Seats Are Flat

Not every cabin sold as business class is a flat bed. United Polaris and Delta One are lie-flat seats on their long-haul aircraft. For Brussels Airlines and the Lufthansa Group airlines, check the seat map and aircraft type on your exact flight, since aircraft change.

Icelandair's Saga Premium is the one to avoid if sleep matters. It's a wide recliner with extra legroom, and it doesn't lie flat. If you see a low fare on a routing through Reykjavik, check the cabin before you compare it with a fare on a flat-bed airline.

Best Strategy by Departure City

East Coast: You have nonstops from New York and Newark, plus Washington on United. On the award side, run Aeroplan and Flying Blue for your dates.

Midwest: United serves Chicago, and Delta serves Brussels from Atlanta. Connecting through a European hub on partner metal can open more award space than a nonstop.

West Coast: You're connecting. Award pricing is by distance, so a connection through Frankfurt, Zurich or Vienna on Lufthansa Group airlines can give you more time in a better cabin.

Anywhere else: Position to a gateway first. A short domestic ticket plus an award from a major hub can cost less than a one-stop premium ticket from a smaller airport.

Cash or Points

Compare before you commit. Check cash fares on Brussels Airlines, United and Delta for your dates, then compare the award. Subtract the award's taxes from the cash price and divide by the miles needed to get cents per point. If the result beats what you normally get from your points, use them; if it doesn't, pay cash and keep the points for a trip where they do. Our guide to how award flights work covers what you still pay in cash on an award.
