  • Every one of the 268 rooms is a suite, ranging from 80 to 745 square meters, designed with longer stays and multigenerational trips in mind.

Hilton announced the debut of Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur on October 29, 2026, giving the luxury brand its first hotel in Malaysia. It's an all-suite property with 268 suites at 73 Jalan Raja Chulan in Bukit Bintang, inside the city's Golden Triangle district, and its restaurants are shaped by chefs Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

For Hilton Honors members, that matters for a simple reason. Kuala Lumpur now has a Waldorf Astoria you can book through Hilton's own channels, where members can mix points and cash on a stay. The smallest room is an 80-square-meter one-bedroom suite, so even an entry booking here is a suite. Here's what Hilton announced, what the hotel includes, and what to check before you spend points on it.

What Hilton Announced

According to Hilton's release, the hotel is a "residential-style all-suite urban retreat" with suites ranging from 80 to 745 square meters. The top of that range is the Waldorf Astoria Suite. Hilton places the hotel moments from the Petronas Twin Towers, Bukit Bintang and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton, framed the opening around the brand's famous addresses. "From Park Avenue in New York to The Bund in Shanghai, the brand is synonymous with legendary addresses that become places to see and be seen," he said. "Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur carries that legacy forward in the heart of the Golden Triangle, with an all-suite experience that brings a distinctive residential character to one of Asia's most dynamic cities."

Dino Michael, senior vice president and category head, Hilton Luxury Brands, said the hotel reflects "the ambition behind Waldorf Astoria's global expansion." If you're tracking where else Hilton is opening hotels, our roundup of new Hilton openings in 2027 covers the pipeline.

The Suites, Dining and Spa

Design firm Deboss Collective did the suites, using natural stone, warm timber and woven textiles, with joinery inspired by traditional Malay marquetry. Hilton says the suites have floor-to-ceiling views of the skyline and were planned with longer stays and multigenerational trips in mind. Hilton describes the suites as having spaces for living and rest.

The brand's signature clock sits at the entrance to Peacock Alley, the hotel's lounge. In Kuala Lumpur it's made of bronze and illuminated glass, and its geometry draws on historic Islamic astrolabes from the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. The museum also worked with the hotel on its art collection, which includes a 19th-century painting of Qajar princes in the Grand Lobby.

Hilton lists these dining venues:

  • The Istana, for breakfast.
  • Yaari, serving Indian cuisine shaped by Garima Arora.
  • JG KL, abc kitchens KL and The Bar by JG, from Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa covers 2,275 square meters across two floors and uses La Prairie treatments, with a Masters in Residence program bringing in outside experts. Each suite comes with a yoga mat and a Digital Detox Card. For events, the hotel has 3,745 square meters of gathering space, and its 1,545-square-meter Grand Ballroom holds up to 2,500 guests for receptions.

What It Means for Hilton Honors Members

Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur is part of Hilton Honors. Hilton says members who book directly through its preferred channels get a payment slider that lets them choose nearly any combination of points and money, an exclusive member discount and free standard Wi-Fi. Members can also check in, choose a room and use a Digital Key through the Hilton Honors app.

The slider is the piece to pay attention to. If the full points price for a suite is more than you hold, you can cover part in points and the rest in cash rather than skipping the redemption. If you're short on points for a specific trip, our coverage of Hilton's points sale explains how buying points works, though buying only makes sense once you've seen the price for your dates.

What You Should Do

If Kuala Lumpur is on your list, start with a search. Hilton says reservations can be made at waldorfastoriakualalumpur.com or in the Hilton Honors app. Search your real dates in the app, compare the points price against the cash rate, and slide between the two to see what a mixed payment costs.

The Bottom Line

As of October 29, 2026, Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur is part of Hilton Honors and bookable through Hilton's channels, which means points, cash or a mix of both can pay for a suite in the Golden Triangle. What you won't know until you search is the points price for your dates, so that's your first step. Book directly through the Hilton Honors app or the hotel's site to get the member benefits Hilton lists, and decide between a points stay and a cash stay once you see both numbers side by side.
