As of October 1, 2026, United is offering a status match to Delta SkyMiles Medallion and American AAdvantage elites, and you have until October 15 to request it. United matches you to a Premier level for a 90-day challenge. Buy and fly the required amount on United or United Express in that window and you keep the status through January 31, 2028.
Deal Details
United's match tool maps each level and sets the spend to keep it:
- Premier Silver, $1,500: Delta Silver Medallion, American Gold.
- Premier Gold, $3,000: Delta Gold Medallion, American Platinum.
- Premier Platinum, $4,500: Delta Platinum Medallion, American Platinum Pro.
- Premier 1K, $7,000: Delta Diamond Medallion and Delta 360°, American Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey.
The rest of the terms:
- Deadline: request your match by October 15.
- Who qualifies: a MileagePlus member whose account address is in the U.S., with Delta or American elite status valid for the current calendar year. Earned and lifetime status count. Trial, temporary or promotional status doesn't.
- What counts toward the spend: base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges on tickets for yourself, flown on United or United Express during the challenge, including the cash part of Money + Miles. Taxes and fees, codeshares on other airlines, Economy Plus, seat fees and paid upgrades don't count.
- Bonus PlusPoints: completing the challenge at Premier Platinum earns 20 PlusPoints, and at Premier 1K it earns 100.
- During the challenge: United says you may not get every partner benefit, including Star Alliance lounge access.
How to Take Advantage
- Check your level in United's match tool on the status match page.
- Submit the form with proof of your Delta or American status by October 15. United says it will tell you within 3 business days if you're approved.
- Once approved, your status starts within one to three business days and the 90-day clock runs from the approval date.
- Buy and fly enough United or United Express tickets inside those 90 days to hit your number.
Why This Deal Matters
A match is only worth it if you'd fly United in the next three months anyway. Say you're a Delta Gold Medallion with $3,000 in base fares coming up that could go either way. Flying those trips on United inside the 90 days keeps Premier Gold through January 31, 2028. If those trips would stay on Delta, the match buys you nothing.
United is pitching the offer on its Wi-Fi, calling it "the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky." Our status match roundup covers what the other U.S. airlines are offering, and our MileagePlus guide explains how the program works once you're in.
Who Should Apply
Apply if you hold Delta or American elite status and have United trips you could book in the next 90 days. Skip it if you already hold the same or a higher United level, since United won't grant the match then. Requests close October 15, 2026.
