Three hotel openings in August 2026 matter to points members. Hilton's 100th hotel in Türkiye opened next to Istanbul Airport, Hyatt's adults-only all-inclusive brand reached the Dominican Republic, and Hyatt added its first hotel in Guyana.

Only two of the three earn points today.

Here is each one, what the brand actually said, and what it is worth to you.

Hilton Istanbul Airport, and a transit hotel worth knowing about

Hilton opened Hilton Istanbul Airport on August 12, 2026. It has 485 rooms. It is the first global hotel brand to sit next to the airport grounds in Türkiye, and it is Hilton's 100th hotel in the country. Hilton has been in that market for more than 70 years.

The details that matter on a long layover are specific. Rooms and suites have runway views. The executive lounge looks out over the runway and the gates. There is a spa with an indoor pool, a sauna and a Turkish bath on set hours, plus a gym open around the clock on room keys. Eight meeting rooms and a ballroom that seats 250 cover the business side.

Istanbul Airport is one of the busiest hubs in the world. Until now it had almost nothing branded within walking distance. On a long Turkish Airlines connection, this is the first Honors hotel you can walk to instead of paying for a taxi. Hilton also brought OXBO, its global dining brand, to Türkiye here, across a restaurant, a café and a 24-hour bar.

Hilton prices awards by demand and does not publish a chart. Check the rate on your own dates rather than trusting a number from any article, this one included. If you are sitting on certificates, our guide to the best uses of a Hilton free night reward is the place to start.

Hyatt Vivid arrives in the Dominican Republic

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana opened on August 31, 2026 in Cabeza de Toro. It is the first Hyatt Vivid resort in the Dominican Republic. It has 467 rooms and suites, five à la carte restaurants, a food hall, a bar and grill, seven bars and lounges, a speakeasy and a wellness café.

Hyatt Vivid is the adults-only end of Hyatt's Inclusive Collection. That is the arm of World of Hyatt that turned all-inclusive resorts into a points play. Punta Cana already has a thick cluster of those resorts, so this adds depth to a market Hyatt is in rather than opening a new one.

"The opening reflects our long-term commitment to growing alongside the Dominican Republic as a premier leisure destination," said Javier Águila, President of Hyatt's Inclusive Collection.

The practical hook is the New Hotels Bonus Offer. World of Hyatt members earn 500 bonus points per qualifying night here. It is the lever Hyatt pulls to drive traffic to a hotel that has just opened. If you were already looking at Punta Cana on points, check it before you book the resort next door.

Guyana joins the Hyatt map, but not the points map

On August 13, 2026 Hyatt and RJR Investments and Holdings said the 80-room Atlantic Suites Hotel in Georgetown had joined Hyatt as an affiliated hotel. It is the first in Guyana. A $50 million build-out takes it to 240 rooms, and it becomes Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana in 2028.

The word doing the work is affiliated. Hyatt says members can earn and redeem points there once it becomes a Hyatt Regency in 2028. Until then it sits inside the Hyatt portfolio without earning World of Hyatt points. That gap is worth holding on to. A hotel showing up on a brand's site is not the same as one showing up on your statement.

"Guyana is experiencing extraordinary growth and international interest, making this ideal timing to introduce the Hyatt brand," said Robert Badal, CEO of RJR Investments and Holdings. Cristiano Gonçalves, Hyatt's Vice President of Development for South America and the Caribbean, called it a milestone for the brand in the region.

Georgetown is an oil-boom business market with very few branded hotels. That mix tends to produce high cash rates and, in time, good award value. Put 2028 in the calendar.

What is not in this roundup

Several items doing the rounds this week are not here, because we could not stand them up at the source. More and more hotel brands publish offer terms only inside their booking sites, and those sites block us. An offer whose terms we cannot read is one we will not describe.
