As of October 1, 2026, World of Hyatt no longer pays 500 bonus points per night for staying at a newly opened hotel. In its place is a special rate called the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer." Book that rate at a participating new hotel and you earn double points, up to 25,000 bonus points per stay.
The catch is in the booking. The old bonus came with the stay. The new one only comes with one specific rate.
What Changed
For years, Hyatt's new hotel offer was simple: stay at a property on the new hotels list during its promotion window and collect 500 bonus points for each night. As of October 1, 2026, that offer is over.
The replacement works differently:
- Double points on the stay, in place of a flat 500 per night.
- A cap of 25,000 bonus points per qualifying stay.
- You have to book the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer" rate. Booking a different rate at the same hotel doesn't earn the bonus.
Among the newer properties carrying the rate are Thompson Rome, The Clayfield in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, and Hyatt House Monroe / Cranbury / South Brunswick in New Jersey.
Who Comes Out Ahead
A flat 500 points a night rewarded every stay the same way, whatever you paid. A double-points rate rewards spending, so the answer depends on the room rate in front of you.
Say you're looking at a $300 night where the hotel's base earning is 1,500 points. Doubling that is worth more to you than the old 500. Now say the room is $80 and the base earning is 400 points: doubling it gets you less than 500 would have. The bigger the cash rate, the better the new version looks.
The other variable is the rate itself. A bonus rate is only worth booking if its price is close to the best rate the hotel offers you that night. Before you book, put the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer" price next to the hotel's flexible rate, any prepaid rate and any member or discount rate you'd normally use. If the bonus rate costs meaningfully more, the extra points may not cover the difference.
What You Should Do
If you have a stay booked at a new Hyatt on a regular rate, look at whether the hotel now shows the bonus rate for your dates, and compare prices before you switch. Read the cancellation terms on both rates before you change anything.
If you're choosing between Hyatt properties for an upcoming trip, a new hotel on a higher cash rate is where this offer pays most. On a cheap night, don't pay up for the bonus rate.
Separately, Hyatt's fall promotion paying 3,000 bonus points every three nights has its own registration and rules. When you're ready to spend the points, our guide to the World of Hyatt award chart shows what each category costs.
The Bottom Line
As of October 1, 2026, the only way to earn Hyatt's new hotel bonus is to book the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer" rate, which pays double points up to 25,000 bonus points per stay. Compare that rate's price with the hotel's other rates every time; the bonus is only a gain when the price gap is small.
