Hilton has passed 100 open and planned hotels across the Caribbean, the company said in a release dated November 4, 2026. The milestone comes with this week's opening of Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton San Juan. It's a 257-room dual-brand property near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and DISTRITO T-Mobile.

The more useful part of the news is the pipeline. Hilton lists openings in Punta Cana and Curaçao by 2027, its first hotel in Dominica in 2028 and a Waldorf Astoria in Turks and Caicos in 2030. Here's what opened and what's coming, with the years Hilton gave. Our report on new Hilton openings in 2027 covers more of what Hilton plans to open next year.

What Opened in San Juan

The new San Juan property is two hotels in one project. Hilton calls it its first dual-brand development in the Caribbean and the first Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton dual-brand property in Puerto Rico. It's also the debut of Homewood Suites in Puerto Rico, and it takes Hampton by Hilton beyond Isla Verde.

Hilton says the project marks San Juan's first new-build hotel in more than five years. It pairs an extended-stay brand (Homewood Suites) with a midscale one (Hampton), and the two share amenities. The hotels sit in the San Juan Convention District. Hilton says that location suits business, convention and leisure travelers, plus guests who want a longer stay.

That makes it a fit if you're in town for an event at the convention center or staying long enough to want a kitchen. Hilton describes Homewood Suites as an all-suite, extended-stay brand with separate living and sleeping areas and fully equipped kitchens. The brand also lists free hot breakfast and a weekly Welcome Home Wednesday evening reception. Hampton's brand description lists free hot breakfast too.

Hilton Caribbean Hotels Coming Through 2030

Hilton says its planned openings will mark brand firsts in key markets. The years below are Hilton's own. The release calls each one expected, planned or slated.

  • Dominican Republic: DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown, expected by year-end 2026, followed by Tru by Hilton Punta Cana, planned for 2027.
  • Curaçao: DoubleTree by Hilton Curaçao, slated for 2027.
  • Dominica: Tranquility Beach Resort Dominica, Curio Collection by Hilton, expected in 2028 and Hilton's first hotel in the country.
  • The Bahamas: Paradise Breeze Nassau, Curio Collection by Hilton, slated for 2028 and representing Hilton's return to the island.
  • Barbados: Hilton Garden Inn Barbados Rockley Beach, planned for 2028.
  • Puerto Rico: Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce, expected in 2028.
  • Trinidad and Tobago: Hampton by Hilton Trinidad Airport, slated for 2028, and Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, planned for 2030.
  • Turks and Caicos: Waldorf Astoria Turks and Caicos Dellis Cay and AMARIS Grace Bay Turks and Caicos, LXR Hotels & Resorts, both expected in 2030.

The nearest of these is the DoubleTree in downtown Punta Cana. The luxury openings come last, with both Turks and Caicos properties pointed at 2030.

Puerto Rico Is Set to Double

The San Juan opening is part of a bigger push on the island. Hilton says it plans to double its existing Puerto Rico portfolio to nearly 25 hotels. Projects are advancing in San Juan, Ponce, Fajardo, Dorado and Arecibo.

Hilton says the island pipeline spans focused-service, extended-stay, lifestyle and resort hotels. It named Hampton by Hilton Ponce, Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce and Tru by Hilton San Juan Condado among the projects.

What Else Joined in 2026

Hilton also pointed to openings earlier in 2026. Those include The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino and Ports of Call Resort Turks & Caicos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.

Through its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Hilton added West Bay Club in Turks and Caicos, ONE GT Grand Cayman and Paradise Beach Nevis in Saint Kitts and Nevis. For another recent Hilton Honors opening in the region, see our report on Amàre Cancún, Curio by Hilton.

What Hilton Says About the Growth

Kolin Pound, Hilton's area president for the Caribbean and Latin America, put the current base in numbers. "Today, our established portfolio of nearly 60 hotels provides a foundation for accelerated growth," he said.

Pablo Maturana, Hilton's vice president of development for the region, tied the milestone to the pipeline. "Surpassing 100 open hotels and projects under design and construction reflects the strength of our momentum across the Caribbean," he said.

What You Should Do

If you have a San Juan trip coming up for a convention or a long stay, the new Homewood Suites and Hampton is one to look at. For Punta Cana, keep an eye on the DoubleTree downtown, which Hilton expects by year-end 2026.

The Bottom Line

The change you can use now is in San Juan: 257 new rooms across two Hilton brands in the Convention District. Next is DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown, expected by the end of 2026, then Tru by Hilton Punta Cana and DoubleTree by Hilton Curaçao in 2027.
