Hyatt announced on November 2, 2026 that Grand Hyatt The Red Sea has opened on Shura Island in Saudi Arabia. The resort has 430 rooms, suites and villas. It's the second Hyatt-branded property in The Red Sea destination, following Miraval The Red Sea earlier this year, and the eighth Hyatt-branded hotel in the Kingdom.
For World of Hyatt members, the headline is the opening rate: book the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer" rate and you earn 2X points on the room rate and eligible incidentals. Timing matters too. Hyatt says Embers is open now, and seven of the resort's nine dining venues are set to open at a later stage. Here's what's open, what's coming and how to decide whether to book now or wait. If you're new to how Hyatt handles opening promotions, our explainer on Hyatt's double points rate at new hotels covers the background.
What Opened on Shura Island
Shura Island is part of The Red Sea, a destination on Saudi Arabia's west coast developed by Red Sea Global. According to Hyatt's opening release, the destination's portfolio comprises 17 resorts and around 3,000 hotel keys. Hyatt says Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is set to become the heart of Shura Island and a leading venue for meetings and celebrations.
"The opening of Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is a significant milestone for Hyatt in the Kingdom and comes just months after Miraval The Red Sea welcomed guests earlier this year," said Stephen Ansell, Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Hyatt. He added that the openings give "World of Hyatt members even more ways to experience this extraordinary destination across two distinctive Hyatt brands."
Muza Lab designed the accommodations. Guest rooms have private balconies or terraces overlooking the sea, the lagoon or the gardens, and select accommodations add private pools. The resort's signature canopy structures, which provide shade across the outdoor spaces, are made using recycled fishing nets.
Dining: What's Open and What's Coming
This is the part that matters most if you're booking soon. Hyatt says the resort will be home to nine dining and social venues. Embers, a live-fire restaurant serving meats and fresh seafood, is open now. Hyatt says Drift Pool Bar will offer drinks and light bites with views of The Red Sea.
The release says seven of the nine venues are set to open at a later stage:
- The Amalfi Club
- Café Maude, a French bistro
- Havana Social
- Charcoal Tandoor Fire Grill
- El Ta'koy, Hawaiian street food from Chef Luis Pous
- Akira Back Korean BBQ, from Michelin-starred chef Akira Back
- 2am: dessert bar, from pastry chef Janice Wong
If the restaurant lineup is a big reason you'd pick this resort, ask the hotel which venues are open for your dates before you commit.
Pools, Spa and Meeting Space
The resort has five pools. They're the Drift Pool, Amalfi Pool and Main Pool outdoors, and an Indoor Lap Pool and a Spa Vitality Pool indoors. The 8,070-square-foot Ethereal Spa features the VOYA brand and has 12 treatment rooms, ten indoors and two outdoors. A 5,380-square-foot fitness center rounds out the wellness side.
Hyatt is also pitching the property for meetings and celebrations. There are five meeting rooms, a Junior Ballroom and the Grand Ballroom, which the release says is recognized as the largest on Shura Island.
How the 2X World of Hyatt Points Rate Works
To celebrate the opening, World of Hyatt members who book the "New Hotel Member Bonus Offer" rate earn 2X World of Hyatt points for every full $1 USD, or equivalent, spent on the room rate and eligible incidental charges.
If the bonus rate costs more than other rates for your dates, compare the price gap with what the extra points are worth to you.
Getting There
Red Sea International Airport (RSI) serves the destination. The release lists regular flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Milan and Dubai, with additional regional and international routes launching soon.
What You Should Do Before Booking
First, decide whether you're paying cash or points. If you're paying cash, search for the New Hotel Member Bonus Offer rate by name to earn the 2X. If you're considering points, check Hyatt's site for the award price on your dates. Our coverage of the World of Hyatt points sale is useful if you're short on points.
Second, check what's open. Hyatt says seven of the nine dining venues are set to open at a later stage, so ask the hotel what's serving on your dates. For another recent Hyatt opening, see our look at Thompson Rome's opening.
What Changes for You
As of November 2, 2026, Hyatt says World of Hyatt members who book the New Hotel Member Bonus Offer rate earn 2X points at Grand Hyatt The Red Sea. If you're planning a Saudi Red Sea trip and want a big resort with pools, a spa and plenty of room options, it's the newest Hyatt option in the destination. If the restaurants are the draw, ask the hotel first, since seven of the nine venues are set to open at a later stage. Check with the hotel on when those venues open and how long the bonus rate is offered.
