Emirates Dubai Connect gives eligible passengers with a long connection in Dubai a complimentary hotel room, meals, airport transfers and a UAE visa, as long as the gap between flights is between six and 26 hours and there's no shorter connection available. That's how the program reads on Emirates' Dubai Connect page and its terms and conditions as of September 30, 2026.
It isn't automatic. You have to book it ahead of time, and the fine print on fares, operating carrier and ticketing decides whether you qualify. Here's who gets it, what's included and how to add it to your trip.
Who Qualifies for Emirates Dubai Connect
Emirates says Dubai Connect is for passengers who have to wait longer in Dubai because "the best connection time isn't available." The terms set out the conditions.
- Connection time. The time between your inbound flight landing in Dubai and your outbound flight leaving must be at least six hours and no more than 26 hours. That applies in every cabin.
- Best available connection. You must be booked on the connection with the shortest transit time in Dubai. If a shorter connection exists and you picked the longer one, you don't qualify.
- Minimum fare in Premium Economy and Economy. The base fare plus carrier-imposed fuel surcharge must be at least USD 450 for a one-way ticket transiting Dubai once, or USD 700 for a return ticket transiting Dubai twice. Emirates lists the same figures for every origin region.
- Emirates-operated flights. Both flights into and out of Dubai must be operated by Emirates. Emirates-marketed flights operated by flydubai can qualify if they arrive and depart from Terminal 3 and at least one part of the trip is on an Emirates-operated flight. For those itineraries in Premium Economy and Economy, the minimum fare is USD 500 one-way or USD 1,000 return.
- One ticket. The whole itinerary must be a single booking on one ticket issued on an Emirates (176) document.
- Age. Passengers traveling alone must be 18 or older on the date of the inbound flight. One adult can bring up to two children under 18.
- Entry to the UAE. You have to be able to enter the UAE, and every passport needs at least 180 days (six months) of validity.
Emirates also notes that Dubai Connect "may also be offered in other cases," with rules that depend on when you booked, the fare paid and the flights chosen. The service is subject to availability, and Emirates says it can modify or cancel the offer at any time without notice.
What's Included
Dubai Connect covers four things, according to Emirates.
Hotel Stay
Emirates books you into the Copthorne Hotel Dubai, Le Méridien Airport Hotel Dubai, JW Marriott Marquis or another hotel it chooses. The terms say Emirates doesn't guarantee a particular hotel, location or star rating.
Your cabin matters here. If you're booked in Premium Economy or Economy 12 hours before departure and then get upgraded to Business or First, you still get a room at the hotel Emirates allocates to Economy passengers. If you're booked in Business or First and get involuntarily downgraded at check-in because of an aircraft change or denied boarding, you get a room at the hotel allocated to Business and First passengers.
Meals
All applicable meals are included in the hotel booking. The hotel decides which meals you get based on your check-in time, served at the usual hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel may ask for a credit card at check-in to cover extras like the minibar, spa treatments or dining that Dubai Connect doesn't include.
Visa
The booking includes a complimentary 48-hour visa. If your nationality needs a visa to enter the UAE, Emirates says it should be arranged at least 48 hours before you arrive, or on arrival subject to UAE Immigration approval. Visa decisions rest with the UAE authorities, and Emirates says it won't apply for passport holders whose applications the authorities refuse to process. Those passengers aren't eligible.
Transfers
A complimentary coach takes you between the airport and your hotel. When you land, head to the Dubai Connect desk in Arrivals, and the team there handles the transfer.
How to Book Dubai Connect
If you booked on emirates.com, Emirates says it will tell you during the booking process whether your itinerary is eligible. To add the service afterward:
- Book your flights.
- Log in to Manage Your Booking with your surname and booking reference.
- Choose Dubai Connect.
- Add the service at least 12 hours before your flight to Dubai.
One thing to watch: the further conditions at the bottom of the same Emirates page say it can only accept Dubai Connect bookings made at least 24 hours before your inbound flight to Dubai departs. With two different cutoffs on one page, add it as soon as you know your connection qualifies rather than waiting until the last day.
If you booked through an Emirates office, you can call to check whether you qualify and have an agent add it. If you booked through a travel agent, ask them to check and book it, or do it yourself online with your booking reference.

When Dubai Connect Is Worth Adding
If your itinerary already has a six-to-26-hour gap in Dubai, it's all on Emirates metal on one ticket, and no shorter connection exists, check Manage Your Booking and add Dubai Connect right away. A hotel, meals, a visa and transfers for a forced layover is a real saving.
Don't pick a longer connection to try to get it. The best-available-connection rule means the program only covers the layover you couldn't avoid. If you're on an Economy or Premium Economy fare, check the minimum fare figures above first, and make sure your passport has six months of validity before you count on leaving the airport.
