Delta will fly Boston to Reykjavík daily from April 12 through Oct. 30, 2027, the airline said on October 16. It's the newest addition to Delta's 2027 transatlantic schedule, added to Delta's September 25 release that also stretches its European season earlier into spring and later into fall. Here are the dates and aircraft for Reykjavík, which routes are stretching and what to check before you plan around either.
Boston to Reykjavík
Delta's new nonstop between Boston and Reykjavík (KEF) is daily from April 12 through Oct. 30, 2027. Delta will fly it on a Boeing 757-200 with Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. Those are the three cabins Delta's announcement lists for this route, and it lists Delta One on each of the other three new routes below. Our short post on the route has the schedule at a glance.
Delta says Reykjavík will be its 14th unique long-haul destination from Boston in peak summer, and calls Boston its closest U.S. hub to Europe. Delta's history in Iceland dates to June 2011, when it launched nonstop service between New York-JFK and Reykjavík, the first time a U.S. carrier offered scheduled nonstop flights to Iceland.
A Longer European Season
Delta is also stretching its 2027 transatlantic season, giving customers more room to travel in spring and fall. Seasonal Rome service from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit starts in early March, followed by Seattle-Rome in April. New York-JFK to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen returns earlier, as do Boston and Seattle to Barcelona and Atlanta to Edinburgh.
Some routes get more flights or a longer run as well. Detroit-Rome and New York-JFK-Copenhagen will run daily when they resume, Boston to Milan goes to daily in 2027, and Cincinnati-Paris continues three times weekly from January through March. Jeff Arinder, Delta's vice president of international network planning, said customers "continue to seek more flexibility, convenience and choice when traveling to Europe."
The Other Three New Routes
Reykjavík joins three routes Delta announced earlier, which we covered in our post on Venice, Athens and Paris:
- Austin to Paris (CDG): daily from March 27, 2027, which Delta says is Austin's first nonstop to Paris.
- Boston to Venice: four times weekly from May 7 through Oct. 29, 2027.
- Detroit to Athens: three times weekly from June 8 through Oct. 28, 2027.
What to Check Before You Plan Around Them
Fares and award prices are a separate question, so if you're pointing miles at these flights, search each program for your dates before you transfer anything. Delta's release says its partnerships with Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and other airlines give customers access to hundreds of destinations across Europe. Virgin Atlantic's Delta page says to book direct with Virgin Atlantic to spend Virgin Points on Delta flights, and that reward flights on Delta are subject to availability. Our guide to redeeming Virgin Atlantic miles covers how that works, and our Flying Blue miles guide covers Flying Blue, the program of Delta's partners Air France and KLM.
What to Do Next
If Reykjavík fits a trip, watch Delta's schedule for your dates and decide which currency you'd rather spend: SkyMiles, a partner's miles or cash. Of the four new routes, Austin to Paris starts first, on March 27, and Boston to Reykjavík follows on April 12, so those are the two to price for a trip before May 7.
