Key Points

  • Citi's ThankYou site lists Gaming under Shop with Points, powered by Xsolla, for eligible Citi credit cardholders.
  • You pick how many points to apply at checkout, and any remaining balance is charged to your Citi card.
  • No enrollment or fee applies, but the balance must go on an eligible Citi credit card, and Citi can change the points-to-dollar conversion rate at any time.

Citi ThankYou members with an eligible Citi credit card can now redeem points at checkout for video games and in-game items through Xsolla, according to Citi's ThankYou site, read October 14, 2026. Citi lists game keys, founder's packs and in-game items across 2,000+ games, and Citi's steps cover paying for part of an order with points.

How It Works

The option sits under Shop with Points on thankyou.com, where Citi tags Gaming as new. Citi's steps are short:

  1. Shop in a participating game and add items to your cart.
  2. At checkout, choose your eligible Citi credit card as the payment method.
  3. Select Use ThankYou Points and choose how many points to apply.
  4. Place the order. If you don't have enough points for the whole order, the rest is charged to your Citi credit card.

Citi's gaming FAQ says you don't have to enroll or register. You need an eligible Citi credit card that's current and available for use, and a ThankYou account in good standing. Xsolla runs a game store at x.la/citi, described on Citi's page as select games and in-game items, with further in-game purchases supported across the 2,000+ participating titles.

The Fine Print

Citi's FAQ says you can't use another credit card to pay the balance of an order, only an eligible Citi credit card. Authorized users can use points in games if they share your Card Account number, and an authorized user with a unique Card Account number may not. Certain gaming purchases processed through the legacy checkout system may be subject to exclusions. There's no fee to redeem ThankYou Points for gaming.

You get an email receipt showing the ThankYou Points redeemed and the amount charged to your Citi card. The points leave your account when the purchase completes. Shop with Points terms add that purchases made with ThankYou Points may be subject to the partner's return and refund policy, which may include restocking fees. Citi can also change the points-to-dollar conversion rate at any time.

Should You Use It

Citi's terms say the value of a point may vary depending on the reward, so compare what your points buy here with what they'd get you elsewhere before you apply them. Points used at Xsolla are points you aren't sending to a transfer partner or spending through travel, and our guide to how Citi ThankYou Points work covers those routes.

If you'd rather keep points out of the gaming checkout, you can switch it off. Citi says to deselect Gaming on the Shop with Points Accounts page on thankyou.com or call 1-800-ThankYou.
