Citi is running a 25% bonus on ThankYou points converted to Leaders Club, the loyalty programme of Leading Hotels of the World. It runs from 23 August to 19 September 2026.
The mechanic is a ratio change rather than a straight bonus. The usual conversion is five ThankYou points to one Leaders Club point. During the promotion it improves to four to one, so 1,000 ThankYou points produce 250 Leaders Club points instead of 200.
What that actually converts to
Leaders Club redemptions price dynamically rather than off a chart, and the programme's own points are generally reckoned at around eight cents each.
Run that through the promotional ratio and 1,000 ThankYou points become 250 Leaders Club points worth roughly $20, which is about two cents per ThankYou point. That is a respectable rate for a hotel transfer, and better than most fixed hotel conversions from a flexible currency.
The caveat is the word "dynamic". A rate derived from an average point value is not a rate you are guaranteed on a specific night at a specific property. The only number that counts is what your intended stay actually prices at.
Who this suits
Someone with a Leading Hotels stay already in mind. Leading Hotels of the World is a collection of independent luxury properties rather than a chain, so the estate is uneven by design. If a property you want is in it, this is a good way to fund the stay.
Someone holding ThankYou points with no better home. Citi's airline partners are decent but thinner than Amex's or Chase's, and a two-cent hotel conversion compares well against redeeming ThankYou points for travel through the portal.
Not someone converting speculatively. Leaders Club points are useful at a specific and fairly small set of hotels. Converting without a stay in mind swaps a flexible currency for a narrow one on the strength of a percentage.
Before you convert
Price the stay first, in cash and in Leaders Club points, then decide. Dynamic pricing means the conversion can look strong in the abstract and poor against the specific night you want.
Check the conversion ratio in your own Citi account too. The promotional ratio differs by product, and premium ThankYou cardholders and everyone else are not always converting on the same terms.
The deadline
19 September 2026. Enough runway to price a stay properly rather than convert first and look later, which is the order that gets people into trouble with any hotel transfer.
