American Airlines and Citi just unveiled their newest co-branded card, and it's filling a gap that's existed in the AAdvantage lineup for years. The Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard sits between the entry-level Platinum Select and the premium Executive card, offering surprisingly robust benefits for its $350 annual fee.

The launch bonus is strong: 90,000 AAdvantage miles after spending $5,000 within four months. At our valuation of 1.4 cents per mile, that's worth $1,260 in travel value. Learn more about why American Airlines miles are so valuable.

What Makes This Card Different

The Globe card introduces several benefits we haven't seen before in the mid-tier space. You'll get four Admirals Club Globe passes annually, each valid for 24 hours. Unlike standard day passes, these Globe passes work even when operational limitations restrict access to the lounges.

The Flight Streak bonus is genuinely innovative. Earn 5,000 Loyalty Points after every four qualifying American Airlines flights, up to 15,000 additional Loyalty Points per status qualification year. This accelerates your path to elite status faster than any other mid-tier airline card.

The Benefits Package

For $350 annually, here's what you're getting with the Citi AAdvantage Globe:

Lounge Access: Four Admirals Club Globe passes per year (24-hour validity each). The primary cardholder must be present, and each pass admits one adult. If you're looking for other cards with lounge access benefits, we've got you covered.

Companion Certificate: Redeem for $99 plus taxes and fees for a round-trip domestic Main Cabin flight annually after card renewal.

Statement Credits: Up to $100 for American Airlines inflight purchases annually, plus up to $100 Splurge Credit for eligible purchases at AAdvantage Hotels, 1stDibs, Future Personal Training, or Live Nation (choose two brands).

Turo Credits: Earn up to $30 per trip, totaling $240 annually, when you link your card and pay through Turo.

TSA PreCheck or Global Entry: Statement credit up to $120 every four years for your application fee.

Travel Perks: Priority boarding, first checked bag free (for you and up to four companions on the same reservation), and 25% discount on American Airlines inflight purchases.

Earning Structure

The Globe card offers the widest bonus category coverage in the AAdvantage portfolio:

  • 6x miles on eligible AAdvantage Hotels bookings
  • 4x miles on eligible American Airlines purchases
  • 3x miles on eligible Spa and Salon purchases
  • 2x miles on eligible dining purchases
  • 2x miles on eligible gas station purchases
  • 2x miles on eligible Rides and Rails purchases (taxis, rideshares, public transit)
  • 1x mile on everything else

Every eligible mile you earn also counts as a Loyalty Point toward AAdvantage status.

Should You Apply?

This card makes sense if you're flying American 4-12 times per year and want lounge access without committing to the $595 Executive card. The combination of the Flight Streak bonus and standard earning makes status more attainable.

The math works if you use the credits. Between the inflight purchases ($100), Splurge Credit ($100), and Turo credits ($240), you're looking at $440 in potential statement credits against a $350 annual fee. Add the Admirals Club passes (worth roughly $300+ based on day pass pricing) and the companion certificate, and the value proposition becomes clear.

The 48-month bonus restriction applies across Citi AAdvantage cards. If you've earned a bonus on any Citi AAdvantage card in the past four years, you won't qualify for this welcome offer. Want to see all your options? Check out our guide to the best credit cards for American Airlines flights.

The Bottom Line

The Globe card fills a real need in the American Airlines credit card lineup. The Flight Streak bonus alone sets it apart from competitors, and the lounge passes make it viable for travelers who want premium perks without the Executive card's price tag. The 90,000-mile welcome bonus makes this a strong opening offer. Apply for the Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard here.
