United's Boeing 787-9 with the Elevated interior is flying, and United says it now serves San Francisco to Singapore and San Francisco to London. The aircraft carries 99 premium seats, including 8 new United Polaris Studio suites, the largest business class seats United has built. United plans to have 33 of these 787-9s flying by 2028.

If you want a Polaris Studio seat, those two routes are where to look today. Here is what the cabin is, and what United has said about where it goes next.

What United Announced, and When

United unveiled the Elevated interior on May 13, 2025. It put tickets on sale on March 19, 2026, and the first international flight, UA1 from San Francisco to Singapore, was scheduled for April 22, 2026. The second route, UA901 from San Francisco to London, was set for April 30.

In its second-quarter results on July 15, 2026, United said it had begun offering the 787-9 with the Elevated interior on flights between San Francisco and Singapore and London.

"The new era of premium air travel is coming soon with our first Elevated aircraft taking flight next month," said Andrew Nocella, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at United, in the March release.

The Cabin, Seat by Seat

United's March 2026 release lays out the layout for the first aircraft.

8 United Polaris Studio suites. Lie-flat, all-aisle-access seats that United says are 25% larger than standard Polaris seats. They have privacy doors and an ottoman, and in six of the eight the ottoman has a seatbelt so a companion can visit. Each has a 27-inch 4K OLED screen, which United calls the largest of any US airline. Studio passengers get exclusive entrée options and an Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche.

56 United Polaris seats. Lie-flat, with 19-inch 4K OLED screens. You can choose seats that face the window or the center of the cabin, depending on whether you are flying alone or with someone.

35 United Premium Plus seats. Roomier seats with privacy dividers and a built-in reading light, which United says is a first for Premium Plus, plus 16-inch screens and wireless charging.

39 Economy Plus and 84 Economy seats. Every seat gets a 13-inch 4K OLED screen with Bluetooth, and United lists 6 power outlets per row and larger overhead bins.

One note from United's release: the Studio privacy doors were "temporarily unavailable" when tickets went on sale.

What Polaris Studio Adds

The Studio suites sit in the first row of each business class section, according to the May 2025 unveiling. United said then that Studio is priced differently from standard Polaris.

United's release lists what comes with the seat:

  • Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, including a duvet and cooling gel pillow.
  • Hoodie-pajamas and slippers.
  • Noise-cancelling headphones.
  • Amenity kits with Perricone MD skincare.
  • A Polaris snack bar on board, shared with the rest of the business cabin.

United's Polaris Studio page adds access to Global Reception check-in and, when available, transfers in luxury vehicles during tight connections.

Where It Flies

Today, United names two routes for this aircraft:

  • San Francisco to Singapore, which opened as UA1.
  • San Francisco to London, which opened as UA901.

Before international service began, United said the plane might appear on select domestic flights between San Francisco and Houston.

The seat map is the only reliable check for a specific flight. United swaps aircraft, and the Studio seats exist only on the Elevated 787-9, so confirm the aircraft before you book for the suite.

What Comes Next

United said in its March 24, 2026 fleet release that it had taken delivery of its first three Elevated 787-9s, and that it plans to have 33 of them flying by 2028. The May 2025 unveiling said all of United's future 787 deliveries would get the Elevated interior.

The Elevated design is also coming to narrowbodies. United's Q2 release says it took delivery of its first A321XLR, the first narrowbody with the Elevated interior, with updated Polaris and Premium Plus seats.

What This Means for MileagePlus Members

A cabin this premium changes how you plan an award or upgrade.

Find the aircraft first. With only two named routes today, the Elevated 787-9 is easy to miss. Search San Francisco to Singapore or London and check the seat map.

Studio is a separate product. United prices Studio differently from Polaris. Do not assume a Polaris award or upgrade lands you in a Studio seat.

More premium seats is good news for upgrades. The Elevated 787-9 has 99 premium seats. United's release says its older 787-9s carry 48 Polaris seats. More premium seats on the same route means more inventory to work with, though United has said nothing about award pricing on these aircraft.
