KLM will start offering free Starlink Wi-Fi on its intercontinental flights from mid-2027, the airline announced on October 8, 2026. The service will be free for Flying Blue members in every cabin, and KLM will roll it out in phases, so not every long-haul flight will have it at first.
If you fly KLM across the Atlantic, the practical step is already in your hands: a Flying Blue account is what unlocks the Wi-Fi. Here's what KLM announced and how it fits with what the airline offers on shorter flights.
What KLM Announced
KLM chose Starlink to deliver Wi-Fi on its intercontinental flights. The key points:
- When: from mid-2027, rolled out in phases.
- Where: intercontinental flights.
- Who: free for Flying Blue members, in all cabins.
"We are making a long-standing wish of our passengers a reality: fast, free Wi-Fi on intercontinental flights starting in mid-2027," said KLM CEO Marjan Rintel.
Short and Medium-Haul Flights Keep Viasat
On short and medium-haul flights within Europe, KLM is keeping its Viasat Wi-Fi, which is also free for Flying Blue members.

What It Means for Your Next Trip
Nothing changes on KLM long-haul flights before mid-2027. If you're planning a KLM trip, join Flying Blue now: it's the login for the Wi-Fi on KLM's European flights today, and it will be the login for Starlink once your aircraft has it.
