Japan Airlines is running an award sale on its own flights, and the North American prices are the headline. Book by October 31, 2026, and an economy seat between Japan and eight North American cities costs 18,900 JAL Mileage Bank miles one way, a discount of roughly 30%.
The sale is open to Mileage Bank members in every region, and there's nothing to register for. JAL shows the discounted price when you search.

- Fly (North America): October 9, 2026 to February 28, 2027
- Cities: New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle and Vancouver, each 18,900 miles one way in economy
- Not included: Boston, plus premium economy and business class on the North American routes
Europe is in the sale too, for travel from November 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027. Business class costs 38,500 miles one way to Helsinki or Frankfurt and 39,900 to Paris, and premium economy runs 26,600 to 28,000 miles. London business class isn't included. Guam and some Taipei flights are discounted as well, with shorter travel windows.
The fine print matters. Only JAL-operated flights with JL flight numbers count, and only seats available at JAL's standard award price qualify, so Award Ticket PLUS bookings are out. Every price here is one way.

- Log in to your JAL Mileage Bank account on JAL's website or app (you can also book by phone).
- Search JAL international award tickets for your dates and check that the discounted price shows.
- Book by October 31, 2026, and don't leave it to the last day.
Why This Deal Matters
Economy to Japan on JAL's own flights for 18,900 miles each way is a strong price, and the travel window runs through the winter holidays. Miles cover the fare but not everything, so check the taxes and carrier charges shown at checkout before you confirm.
