IHG One Rewards Milestone Rewards include a food and beverage reward option at every milestone from 20 nights through 100 nights. IHG's tier-benefits page lists 2 Food & Beverage Rewards among your choices at 20 and 30 nights, and 5 at each milestone from 40 through 100. Each one is a voucher worth up to $20 against food and beverage charges during a hotel stay, and it's valid for 12 months from milestone selection.
Chase's IHG One Rewards Premier card has its own quarterly Food & Beverage voucher with different rules, so don't mix the two up. Here's how the Milestone version works, where it doesn't, and how it differs from the Premier card's.
Which Milestones Offer It
IHG says that starting at 20 qualified nights, you choose a reward every 10 nights you stay each calendar year, up to 100 nights. At 20 nights you pick one of 5,000 bonus points, 2 Food & Beverage Rewards or 1 confirmable suite upgrade. At 30 nights the choice is 5,000 bonus points or 2 Food & Beverage Rewards.
At 40 and 70 nights you pick two options from a longer list: 10,000 bonus points, 5 Food & Beverage Rewards, a confirmable suite upgrade (2 at 70 nights), an annual lounge membership or a Bonus Choice. IHG's chart lists a limit of 1 on the suite upgrade and the lounge membership. At 50, 60, 80, 90 and 100 nights, you choose one of 10,000 bonus points or 5 Food & Beverage Rewards.
IHG's terms say Milestone Rewards are earned on Elite Qualifying Nights for stays within the calendar year. Rollover nights count only toward elite status, not toward Milestone Rewards.
How the Voucher Works
Each Food & Beverage Reward is credit against applicable food and beverage charges during a hotel stay, up to $20 per voucher at participating IHG hotels. Applicable charges vary by property but generally include food, beverage and gratuities. Each voucher can be used only once, even if your charges are lower. IHG's example: redeem one against $15 of charges and you get a $15 credit.
You can use as many vouchers as you have on a stay, and you pay the remaining balance. You earn IHG One Rewards points on that outstanding balance only. The credit applies to your total food and beverage charges, so you can't aim it at food only or beverage only.
Two clocks matter. After you reach a milestone, you have 90 days to select your reward on IHG's website or app, or it's forfeited, and all selections are final. Once you've selected, the voucher is valid for 12 months.
IHG issues it in a local currency based on your country, and members in countries not on its list get $20 USD. The amount is converted to the hotel's currency when you redeem.
Where It Doesn't Work
IHG lists these brands and properties as not offering the benefit: IHG Army Hotels, select Six Senses locations, Iberostar Beachfront Resorts, Royal Resorts by Holiday Inn Club Vacations and InterContinental Alliance Resorts (Macau). The voucher also doesn't cover:
- Vending machines
- Third-party outside food deliveries, such as Uber Eats
- Restaurants that don't allow charges to a guest room bill
- Gift shops
- Taxes associated with minibar charges
A few more rules from IHG's terms. The voucher is non-transferable and can't be applied to multiple rooms or reservations, or to shared rooms. It can't be used if you're staying as part of a group, package tour or convention where a third party pays the charges. It can't be exchanged for cash or other credit, and once it's redeemed, it can't be reversed or canceled.
How It Differs From the Premier Card Voucher
Chase's page for the IHG One Rewards Premier card lists up to $100 a year in Food & Beverage Rewards, issued as one voucher of up to $25 each calendar quarter. Each card voucher is valid only for the quarter it's issued and expires on that quarter's last day, and unused value is forfeited. It goes to the primary cardmember, and the room reservation has to be under that cardmember's name. Chase's page says eligible charges generally include food, beverage (including alcoholic beverages) and gratuities.
The Milestone voucher is the opposite on timing. You earn it by staying, you choose it, and it lasts 12 months from selection. Chase's page also says the Premier card gives 15 Elite Night Credits when you open the account and again at the start of each calendar year, as a head start toward a Milestone Reward.
That $25 figure is from the Premier card's page, so check the page for the card you hold. Our look at the IHG One Rewards Premier Select card covers that card's credits. What to Do at a Milestone
Track your nights in the Rewards Wallet under My Account on IHG's website or app. When you hit a milestone, decide before the 90 days run out. The food and beverage option suits you if you eat at the hotel and the property lets restaurants charge to your room. If you mostly eat elsewhere or order delivery, one of the other choices on the chart will serve you better.
