Key Points

  • A qualified stay booked direct earns 10 points per dollar or 1,000 points, whichever is more, and elite members earn 10% to 20% more.
  • Barclays' four Wyndham cards earn 5x to 8x at Hotels by Wyndham, with annual fees from $0 to $395 and anniversary bonuses from 7,500 to 30,000 points.
  • Chase, Capital One, Citi, Wells Fargo, Bilt, HSBC and Ramp points transfer to Wyndham Rewards, which works best as a top-up for a specific booking.

Wyndham Rewards is the hotel program people underrate, and most of that comes from never looking at how many ways there are to feed it. If you want to earn Wyndham Rewards points, a hotel stay is only the start. There are four Barclays cards with very different earning, seven bank and fintech programs that transfer in, and a long tail of dining, rental car and ticketing partners.

The reason it's worth the effort is the redemption side. Since September 15, 2026, free nights cost 5,000, 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points per bedroom, on a fixed chart with no seasonal pricing. A cheap entry tier means a modest balance actually buys something.

Here's how each main earning path works, and where I'd put my effort.

Stays: 10 Points Per Dollar or 1,000 Points, Whichever Is More

For every qualified stay at most Hotels by Wyndham or participating vacation club resorts, Wyndham pays 10 points per dollar or 1,000 points, whichever is more. At WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham, a qualified stay in a furnished suite earns 5 points per dollar.

That 1,000-point floor is the part I like. Say you book a $60 roadside room for one night: 10 points per dollar would be 600 points, but the floor pays you 1,000. Short, cheap stays are where Wyndham quietly beats the per-dollar programs.

Two rules decide whether a stay counts. At most properties, points are earned on the room rate only, not on parking or the restaurant bill. And stays booked on a third-party website don't qualify, so book on Wyndham's site, its app, by phone or with the hotel.

Elite status adds a bonus on top of base earning: Gold members can receive 10% more points, Platinum 15% and Diamond 20%. You reach Gold after 5 qualifying nights, Platinum after 15 and Diamond after 40. Wyndham also lets you take airline miles or partner points for a qualified stay instead of Wyndham points, if another program needs the top-up more.

Caesars Rewards sits alongside all of this. Wyndham lets you move up to 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points into Caesars Reward Credits, or up to 30,000 Reward Credits back into Wyndham points.

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Cards From Barclays

Barclays issues four Wyndham cards, and the gap between them is bigger than the names suggest. Here's what each earns, from Barclays' own card terms:

  • Wyndham Rewards Earner Card, $0 annual fee. 5 points per $1 at Hotels by Wyndham; 3 points per $1 at participating Wyndham vacation club resorts, on dining, at grocery stores (excluding Target and Walmart), and on gas and EV charging; 1 point per $1 on everything else. You get 7,500 bonus points each card anniversary year in which you spend $15,000, plus automatic Gold.
  • Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card, $95 annual fee. 6 points per $1 at Hotels by Wyndham; 4 points per $1 at participating vacation club resorts, on dining, at grocery stores (excluding Target and Walmart) and on travel, which Barclays defines as airfare, car rental, rideshare, gas, EV charging, tolls and trains; 1 point per $1 elsewhere. You're eligible for 15,000 bonus points each year after paying the annual fee in full. Status is Diamond in your first year, then Platinum.
  • Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier Card, $395 annual fee. 8 points per $1 at Hotels by Wyndham; 4 points per $1 in the same vacation club, dining, grocery and travel categories as the Plus; 1 point per $1 elsewhere. You're eligible for 30,000 bonus points after each card anniversary once the fee is paid, plus Diamond status and a Wyndham Rewards Insider subscription.
  • Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card, $149 annual fee. 8 points per $1 at Hotels by Wyndham; 5 points per $1 at participating vacation club resorts and on gas, EV charging, marketing, advertising, shipping and office supply stores; 1 point per $1 elsewhere. You earn 15,000 bonus points after each card anniversary once the fee is paid, plus Diamond status.

Every card also cuts the price of free nights. The Earner and Earner Plus take 10% off, which Wyndham puts at free nights from 4,500 points. The Business card takes 20% off (from 4,000 points) and the Premier 25% (from 3,750 points). All four carry no foreign transaction fee.

On October 7, 2026, all four cards showed limited-time welcome offers on Wyndham's card site: up to 75,000 points on the Earner, 100,000 on the Earner Plus, 120,000 on the Earner Premier and 100,000 on the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card. Each one splits the bonus between general spending and a Hotels by Wyndham purchase, so read the terms before you apply.

Which Card Earns the Most for You

The Earner Plus is the one I'd look at first. The 15,000 points a year after you pay the $95 fee land whether or not you stay, and its 4x travel category covers gas, airfare, rideshare and tolls in one bucket. For a road-tripper, that's most of the trip on a single card.

The no-fee Earner wins if you don't want an annual fee and your spending leans toward groceries, dining and gas, since it pays 3x on all three. Just know that its 7,500-point anniversary bonus only arrives after $15,000 of spending in the card year.

The Premier only makes sense if you stay with Wyndham often. The 8x hotel rate, 30,000 anniversary points and 25% redemption discount are real, but $395 is a lot to hand a program that sells free nights from 5,000 points. Run your own stays through it before you commit.

Transfer Points From Bank Programs

Wyndham lists seven partner programs that transfer into Wyndham Rewards: Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Wells Fargo Rewards, Bilt, HSBC US Rewards for Miles and Ramp Rewards.

Our coverage of the Bilt transfer to Wyndham and Chase's Wyndham partnership walks through how those two work. Check the ratio in your bank's own portal before you move anything.

I treat transfers as a top-up, not a strategy. Chase and Capital One points have airline partners that usually do more for you, so I'd only send them to Wyndham to close a small gap on a specific booking.

Everyday Earning Without Booking a Room

This is where Wyndham's list gets long. Every one of these is on Wyndham's own More Ways to Earn page:

  • Dining. Dine Out with Wyndham Rewards pays up to 5 points per dollar on dine-in and takeout at participating restaurants.
  • Rental cars. 2 points per dollar on qualifying rentals at participating Alamo, Enterprise and National locations.
  • Tickets. 1 point per eligible dollar on Ticketmaster purchases once your accounts are linked, or 2 points per dollar if you're an Insider.
  • Tours and activities. 10 points per dollar on experiences booked through Wyndham.
  • Groups and events. 1 point per dollar on qualifying event space, room blocks and food and beverage.
  • Debit card. The Wyndham Rewards Debit Card earns 1 point per $1 at participating Hotels by Wyndham and on qualifying gas and grocery purchases, and 1 point per $2 on other qualifying purchases. It also pays 2,500 bonus points when you receive at least two recurring direct deposits and make $100 in purchases within 90 days of opening.
  • Home warranty. 30,000 bonus points after your first payment on an American Home Shield ShieldGold or ShieldPlatinum plan.
  • Surveys. 500 points after your first survey on the Opinion Rewards panel.
  • Buying points. You can buy points in increments of 1,000, up to 100,000 a calendar year.

Most of these are small. The dining program and the rental car partnership are the two that add up without any extra effort, because you're eating and renting anyway.

Wyndham Rewards Insider and Wyndham Rewards Business

Wyndham Rewards Insider is a paid subscription at $95 a year, not an elite tier. Wyndham says it adds accelerated earning on qualifying stays, 2 points per dollar on cruise and other travel bundle bookings, and 2 points per dollar on eligible Ticketmaster purchases. Through December 31, 2026, new Insiders get two extra months and 7,500 bonus points.

If you book travel for a company, Wyndham Rewards Business pays the company 1 point per dollar on every business-qualified stay, and your travelers still earn in their own accounts.

Wyndham also runs short promotions on top of base earning. The current 4X offer needs registration first, then a direct booking by January 15, 2027 and a completed stay by January 19, 2027; our 4X offer breakdown has the caps.

Where I'd Start

Book direct so every stay counts, and lean on the 1,000-point floor for short, cheap nights. Join Dine Out with Wyndham Rewards and rent through the Alamo, Enterprise and National partnership, since those two cost you nothing extra.

If you'll pay an annual fee, the Earner Plus is where I'd begin. Transfer from Chase, Capital One or Bilt only to finish off a booking. When you're ready to spend the points, our Wyndham Rewards program page has the award chart.
