Delta is adding seasonal weekend flights to its summer 2027 schedule, with new Atlanta service to Bangor, Traverse City and Rapid City starting May 29 and new routes from Detroit, Los Angeles and Austin starting June 12. The airline announced the Delta summer 2027 weekend routes on November 6, 2026, in a release on the Delta News Hub.
Delta's release points to mountain towns, coastal communities and other warm-weather destinations. Delta is also adding weekend frequencies on several existing routes and expanding weekend flying in 10 Latin America and Caribbean markets. Here's what's on the schedule, when each route runs, and who it actually suits.
What Delta Announced for Summer 2027
Delta frames the whole expansion around where its customers want to travel. "We're continuing to tailor Delta's schedule around where our customers want to travel," said Amy Martin, Delta's vice president of network planning. "By adding weekend flights to some of the most sought-after leisure destinations across the U.S., Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, we're giving customers more flexibility and more ways to make the most of their summer."
These are the new seasonal weekend routes, with the dates Delta gave for each:
- Atlanta (ATL) to Bangor, Maine (BGR): May 29 to Oct. 24
- Atlanta (ATL) to Traverse City, Michigan (TVC): May 29 to Sept. 6
- Atlanta (ATL) to Rapid City, South Dakota (RAP): May 29 to Sept. 4
- Detroit (DTW) to Bangor, Maine (BGR): June 12 to Oct. 23
- Detroit (DTW) to Bozeman, Montana (BZN): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Detroit (DTW) to Pensacola, Florida (PNS): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Detroit (DTW) to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida (VPS): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Bozeman, Montana (BZN): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Jackson Hole, Wyoming (JAC): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Austin (AUS) to Kalispell, Montana (FCA): June 12 to Sept. 4
- Austin (AUS) to Bozeman, Montana (BZN): June 12 to Sept. 4
The two Bangor routes stand out. They run into late October, well past the early September end date on most of the new flying.
Delta's release also folds in weekend flights it had already loaded from Boston and New York-LaGuardia. From Boston, those go to Myrtle Beach, Norfolk, Asheville, Halifax, Charleston, Bozeman, Savannah and Wilmington, North Carolina. From LaGuardia, they go to Panama City, Florida, and Destin-Fort Walton Beach. For more on Delta's recent Boston flying, see our earlier Boston schedule story.
Extra Weekend Flights on Existing Routes
Delta is adding an additional weekend frequency on several routes it already flies. The airline says that means more seats and more schedule options for summer travelers.
Atlanta to Burlington, Vermont, gets the extra weekend flight from May 29 to Sept. 4. Detroit to Myrtle Beach and Minneapolis-St. Paul to Kalispell get theirs from June 12 to Sept. 4. Cincinnati starts earliest, with the added frequency to Orlando and to Fort Myers running from April 17 to Sept. 4.
More Saturday Flights to Latin America and the Caribbean
For spring and summer 2027, Delta is adding Saturday frequencies and extending seasonal service in 10 Latin America and Caribbean markets. From Atlanta, expanded weekend service goes to Grand Cayman, Guadalajara, Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Panama City, Panama, and St. Lucia (UVF).
The rest of the added weekend flying runs from Detroit to Aruba, Montego Bay and Nassau, from New York-JFK to Aruba, and from Los Angeles to Los Cabos. Delta says the schedule will push select seasonal routes further into spring and summer while adding Saturday options during peak leisure periods. It singled out the new Saturday Atlanta to St. Lucia flight as improving connections for customers traveling through its Atlanta hub.
Why the Weekend Schedule Matters
Detroit flyers going to Bozeman, Pensacola or Destin-Fort Walton Beach get a seasonal weekend route from June 12. Los Angeles gains Bozeman and Jackson Hole, and Austin gains two Montana options, Kalispell and Bozeman.
Bozeman shows up the most. It's on the new list from Detroit, Los Angeles and Austin, and it's also in the Boston weekend flying Delta had already loaded. If you're in one of those cities and Montana is on your summer list, Delta now gives you more ways to get there on a weekend.
One more detail from Delta: the flights are operated as a mix between Delta and Delta Connection.
Who These Routes Suit
These routes suit travelers who live in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Austin, Boston or New York and want a summer weekend in one of these destinations. Because Delta describes the new service as weekend flying, it fits trips planned around a weekend.
They suit late-season trips to Maine too. If you want Bangor in the fall, the Atlanta route runs to Oct. 24 and the Detroit route to Oct. 23. Delta lists Sept. 4 as the last day for the new routes to Bozeman, Jackson Hole, Kalispell, Pensacola and Destin.
What Changes and When
The earliest date in Delta's release is April 17, when Cincinnati's added weekend flights to Orlando and Fort Myers begin. Atlanta's new routes to Bangor, Traverse City and Rapid City and its extra Burlington frequency start May 29. The Detroit, Los Angeles and Austin routes, along with the added Detroit to Myrtle Beach and Minneapolis-St. Paul to Kalispell frequencies, start June 12.
Most of the new domestic weekend flying ends in early September, with the Bangor routes lasting into late October.
