British Airways just dropped a flash sale on buying Avios, and it's worth a look if you're short on points for an upcoming trip. Through July 16, 2026, you can buy or gift 2,000 or more Avios and get a flat 40% bonus on top.
How the deal works
You can purchase up to 200,000 Avios in a single transaction, with a separate annual cap of 200,000 purchased Avios per member (bonus Avios don't count against that cap). The bigger your purchase, the cheaper each Avios gets. At the max 200,000-Avios tier, you're paying roughly 1.64 cents per Avios, though the per-point savings from smaller tiers is minor.
That's not the best public offer British Airways has run. We've seen 50% bonuses before, and even targeted offers as high as 75%. Qatar Airways and Finnair also run their own Avios-buying promotions from time to time, so it's worth comparing before you commit. Still, 40% is a solid mid-tier offer if you have a redemption already in mind.
