This figure is not ours. The Points Guy publishes a monthly valuation of every major loyalty currency, and its September 2026 table gives Avios as 1.4 cents; the page is linked above and says so in a row reading "Avios | 1.4". Every other program on this site is valued by our own method — ten or more cash-versus-award pairs read off the airline's own booking engine, then the median. British Airways is the one exception. Its Reward Flight Finder shows British Airways-operated flights only, refuses an airport code typed rather than picked from its list, and on 8 September 2026 returned no reward availability at all for 20 October on London to Tokyo, Singapore or Sydney. Two routes is not a sample, so rather than publish a number we had not measured as though we had, we publish theirs with their name on it. What we did see, both one way on 20 October 2026, priced in Avios plus the total of taxes, fees and carrier charges: London Heathrow to Madrid, 06:15, 13,000 Avios plus $5.00. London Heathrow to New York JFK in premium economy, 15:20, 46,750 Avios plus $410.00. Read 8 September 2026. These are two observed prices, not a valuation: we read the award side only, and without the cash fare for the same seat on the same day there is nothing to divide by.
