United customers can now log in to their own Spotify accounts on seatback screens and stream from them, United announced on November 5, 2026. The feature runs on Starlink-enabled screens, and United says the Spotify rollout will expand across half of its fleet by next spring, so whether you see it depends on the plane you board.

How the Spotify Login Works

On eligible flights, you open the Spotify app on the seatback screen and scan the QR code it shows with your phone's camera. If you're already logged in to Spotify on your phone, United says the account pairs with a single-click verification. If you aren't, you log in on your phone. Your phone can also work as an optional remote.

You can log out at any time during the flight, and United says you're logged out of Spotify automatically when the flight ends. United's release also says that available content and features vary by Spotify plan and market.

United says it is the first airline to let customers use their own Spotify account directly from a seatback screen.

What You Can Stream

United says the Spotify catalog includes more than 100 million tracks and millions of podcasts, playlists, videos and albums, and that you can pick up where you left off. Andrew Nocella, United's Chief Commercial Officer, said personalization "shouldn't stop when they board one of our planes."

The login builds on the exclusive Spotify collection United introduced in June 2025, with more than 450 hours of audiobooks, video podcasts and music playlists. United says more than 2.3 million customers have since enjoyed more than 1.9 million hours of Spotify content onboard.

United says it has more than 181,000 seatback screens across its fleet today and expects more than 219,000 by the end of 2027. It also says Starlink Wi-Fi is now on more than half of its daily flights, with Starlink installations expected to be complete by the end of 2027.

The Spotify news is the latest in a run of Starlink announcements in United's newsroom. On October 9, 2026, United and DISH added playoff baseball to the live streaming lineup on airplanes with Starlink-equipped seatback screens. On October 13, United said Starlink installations were underway on its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet in Guam.

On October 15, United said it offers Starlink Wi-Fi on nearly half its daily flights, launched a tool it calls the Starlink Tracker, and extended its Starlink status match offer. Three weeks later, United's release says Starlink is on more than half of its daily flights.

Who This Suits

This suits United flyers who already have a Spotify account and board an eligible flight with a seatback screen. It won't change anything for travelers who don't use Spotify, since the feature is built around logging in to your own account, and United says content and features vary by Spotify plan and market. United also added playoff baseball to its live streaming lineup on Starlink-equipped screens with DISH in October.

What Changes for You

If you fly United with a Spotify account, bring your phone, since the QR code scan happens on it. Details are in United's November 5 release.
