Hilton has signed London Bridge Hotel as a Tapestry Collection by Hilton property, bringing the collection brand to the UK capital for the first time. The company announced the franchise agreement with owner Gama Holdings on September 8, 2026. The 153-room hotel is expected to welcome guests in early 2028, following a transformation Hilton says will cost more than £12 million. It sits at 8-18 London Bridge Street, directly beside London Bridge Station.
The signing makes Tapestry Collection Hilton's ninth brand represented in London. For Hilton Honors members, the practical news is one more central London property inside a program where Zone 1 availability is usually the hard part. Here is what Hilton confirmed, and what it has not said yet.
What Hilton Actually Signed
This is a franchise deal, not an acquisition. Gama Holdings keeps the building, and Hilton supplies the brand, the distribution and Hilton Honors. Simon Elias, president of Gama Holdings, said his company has owned London Bridge Hotel for more than 30 years.
"We believe Hilton is the ideal partner to help realise our vision for the hotel's future, and we are delighted to introduce Tapestry Collection to London," Elias said in the announcement.
The room count lands at 153, and Hilton says the mix will include what it calls garden vault rooms. The ground floor is being redesigned around several premium food and drink outlets, all of them operated by Individual Restaurants. Hilton expects the property to draw both corporate and leisure demand, which is a fair read of that stretch of Southwark.
The Location Is the Real Asset
The hotel is next to London Bridge Station, and that is the point. Hilton lists The Shard, Borough Market, Tower Bridge and the South Bank cultural district as landmarks within walking distance, and all four are genuinely close.
For an American traveler, the station matters more than the landmarks. London Bridge connects to the Jubilee and Northern lines and to Thameslink, which runs south to Gatwick. It is one of the easier places in central London to base a trip that mixes city days with a train out of town.
Tapestry Collection Keeps Growing in the UK and Ireland
Tapestry Collection by Hilton is Hilton's portfolio of independent hotels. Each keeps its own name and character while plugging into Hilton's booking system and loyalty program. Hilton puts the brand at more than 200 hotels globally.
Four are already open in the UK:
- The Samuel Ryder Hotel St Albans
- Elmbank York
- The Marcus Portrush
- Dover Marina Hotel and Spa
Two more are signed and due to open in 2027, in Plymouth and Cork. With London Bridge arriving in early 2028, Hilton expects the UK and Ireland portfolio to reach six hotels by 2028.
Christian Charnaux, Hilton's executive vice president and chief development officer, framed the deal as an owner-side win. "London and the broader UK and Ireland region continue to present tremendous opportunities for growth, and this signing is another great example of how we are driving value for owners and strengthening our network effect around the world," he said.
That is corporate framing, and it is also the reason collection brands exist. An independent owner gets Hilton's reservation volume without converting the hotel into a Hampton or a DoubleTree.
What It Means for Hilton Honors Members
Hilton confirmed that guests will earn and redeem Hilton Honors Points at the hotel, and access member benefits when booking directly through Hilton channels. That is the standard collection-brand arrangement, and it is the part worth caring about. If you have been sitting on a Hilton balance and finding London expensive, this adds an option in a district that usually prices high.
What Hilton has not published is award pricing, and it will not for a long while. Hilton prices award nights dynamically, so nobody can quote a number for a hotel that opens in 2028. What to Watch Between Now and 2028
Early 2028 is a long way out, and hotel opening dates move. The nearer dates worth tracking are the two 2027 openings in Plymouth and Cork, because they will show how Hilton is positioning Tapestry across Britain and Ireland before the London property lands.
For anyone planning a London trip sooner, this signing changes nothing about 2026 or 2027. It is a supply story: one more central London hotel inside a loyalty program where central London supply has been the constraint. Worth noting now, and worth revisiting when Hilton opens the booking calendar.
