Oasis of the Seas is the ship that started Royal Caribbean's Oasis class, and it's now sailing as the Amplified Oasis of the Seas. It has 18 decks and capacity for 6,780 guests in 2,808 staterooms.
This guide covers the rooms, the food, the bars and the things to do, all as Royal Caribbean describes them on its own Oasis of the Seas pages. To see where the ship sits in the fleet, read our guide to Royal Caribbean ships by size.
Rooms and Suites
Royal Caribbean offers interior, ocean view, balcony and Virtual Balcony staterooms. Interior rooms run 149 to 260 square feet and sleep 2 to 7 guests. Ocean view rooms run 179 to 271 square feet and sleep 2 to 6.
Balcony rooms are the line's most popular option. They run 182 to 274 square feet, sleep 2 to 8 guests and look out to sea or over Central Park or the Boardwalk.
Royal Suite Class sits above them, in Sea, Sky and Star suites. Every suite guest gets priority boarding and private dining at Coastal Kitchen, and Star and Sky guests also get a dedicated concierge. The suite lineup includes Junior, Grand, Grand Panoramic, Owner's and Crown Loft suites.
Where to Eat
Royal Caribbean's list of complimentary dining on Oasis of the Seas covers the Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Sorrento's Pizza, El Loco Fresh, Dog House, Café Promenade, Park Café, Solarium Bistro and Sprinkles. Coastal Kitchen is on the same list for suite guests only.
A few details from Royal Caribbean's own descriptions. Dinner is the main event in the multi-level Main Dining Room, and the Windjammer serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. El Loco Fresh is the fast-casual Mexican spot by the pool, with breakfast burritos in the morning. Johnny Rockets is complimentary at breakfast and has a cover charge at lunch and dinner.
The ship also has Chops Grille, Portside BBQ, Giovanni's Table, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi, 150 Central Park and the Chef's Table. Royal Caribbean calls Chops Grille, Portside BBQ and Izumi specialty restaurants. Izumi serves sushi and teppanyaki prepared at your table, and Chops Grille is a classic American steakhouse.
Bars and Nightlife
The bar list runs from the Bionic Bar, where robot bartenders make your drink, to Vintages wine bar, the Champagne Bar and the Rising Tide Bar, which glides between decks. Trellis Bar sits in Central Park, the Solarium Bar is poolside, the Lime & Coconut has DJs, live music and two bars, and Boleros has live merengue and salsa dancing. Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, the Schooner Bar, the English Pub and the Wipe Out Bar for after your surf lesson round it out.
At night, Music Hall hosts cover bands, and Spotlight Karaoke is on Deck 5. The comedy club is included in your fare for guests 18 and older. Royal Caribbean's show list includes Cats, the Frozen in Time ice show, and high-diving spectaculars at the AquaTheater, and your daily Cruise Compass has the current lineup.
Slides, Sports and Things to Do
The Perfect Storm has two twisting slides, Typhoon and Cyclone, plus Supercell, a bowl-shaped slide that spins riders into a plunge pool. The Ultimate Abyss is the tallest slide at sea. It's a dry slide that drops ten stories in about 13 seconds, and Royal Caribbean says you get unlimited rides.
There's more to do on deck than slides. The FlowRider is a 40-foot-long surf simulator, and the zip line crosses above the Boardwalk with no reservation needed. A rock climbing wall rises 40 feet above deck, and the ship has a nine-hole mini golf course, a sports court, pickleball and the Boardwalk carousel. The Solarium is the adults-only retreat.
Royal Caribbean lists these as included in your cruise fare:
- The Perfect Storm slides, the Ultimate Abyss and Splashaway Bay
- The FlowRider, the zip line, rock climbing and the sports court
- Pools, hot tubs and the Solarium
- Mini golf, the carousel and theme parties
- The AquaTheater show, ice skating, comedy shows, live music and karaoke
The Royal Escape Room, Mission Control: Apollo 18, is on Deck 14, and the glow-in-the-dark laser tag course is called Clash for the Crystal City.
Families and Teens
Splashaway Bay is the ship's aqua park for younger kids, with slides, water cannons, fountains and two drench buckets. Adventure Ocean is Royal Caribbean's youth program, which the line says is free for guests ages 3 to 11. AO Babies is for ages 6 to 36 months, and AO Junior is for ages 3 to 5.
Teens ages 13 to 17 get their own lounge, with music, movies, gaming and an outdoor patio.
Private Destinations
Royal Caribbean says every cruise on Oasis of the Seas includes a stop at Perfect Day CocoCay, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, or both. CocoCay has Daredevil's Peak, which the line calls the tallest waterslide in the Caribbean. Royal Beach Club Paradise Island has two beaches and three pools, and guests can book a day pass. Our guide to Royal Beach Club Paradise Island covers booking.
Royal Caribbean sells weekend cruises on Oasis of the Seas from Fort Lauderdale and summer vacations from New York.
