Key Points

  • Marriott's Hotels Near Ski Areas pages list 75 hotels in the U.S. and 17 in Canada.
  • Some cards name a mountain, ski-in/ski-out access or a ski shuttle, while others describe a downtown stay.
  • Set your own dates before comparing, since the cards show rates for the page's default dates.

Marriott hotels near ski areas sit on two lists on Marriott's site: 75 hotels on the U.S. page and 17 on the Canada page. Marriott titles both pages "Hotels Near Ski Areas" and describes the hotels as a short trip from ski areas, mountain trails and winter experiences.

Some cards place a hotel at a mountain, while others describe a downtown stay, so the card text matters more than the list itself when you're planning a ski trip. Here's how the lists are laid out, which first-page cards tie a hotel to a ski area, and what to check before you book.

What the Two Lists Include

The U.S. list shows 12 hotels at a time across seven pages, with the sort set to city. Canada's list runs across two pages. The brands vary a lot. Marriott's pages include Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites, Residence Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, The St. Regis, Westin, Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels and Moxy.

First-Page Cards That Place a Hotel at a Ski Area

These come from the first 12 cards on each list. In the U.S., The St. Regis Aspen Resort is "located at the base of Aspen Mountain," and The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch is a "Ski-in/ski-out luxury resort in Beaver Creek, Colorado."

In Canada, The Josie Hotel, RED Mountain, Autograph Collection is described as a "ski-in, ski-out hotel at RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, BC." Le Westin Tremblant is listed as a "Mont-Tremblant ski resort."

Read the Card Before You Trust the List

Some cards describe a city stay. A Bellingham card reads "near downtown and Western Washington University," a Kamloops card says "Downtown Kamloops hotel," and a Quebec City card calls the hotel a "business hotel" near Centre Videotron.

That doesn't rule those hotels out. It means you should match the card text to your plans. If you want to ski from the door, look for wording like the Bachelor Gulch and RED Mountain cards use. If a shuttle matters more, the Avon Vail Valley cards mention one.

How to Search and What to Check

Seven pages is short enough to scan by hand, so start with the town you're visiting. Then check these before you commit:

  • Set your own dates first. The cards show rates for the page's default dates.
  • Read each card for ski wording: ski-in/ski-out, a ski shuttle, or a named mountain.
  • Ask the hotel how far the lift is if the card doesn't say.

Your Next Step

Pick your mountain, find the nearest town on the U.S. or Canada list, and read the card for ski wording. Set your dates, then compare cash rates against points prices for the hotels you like before you book.
