Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points at 18 MGM Resorts hotels in the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, and you can link an MGM Rewards account to get matched Bonvoy status. Book through Marriott.com or the Bonvoy app to earn points, and keep in mind that points earn on the room rate, not on casino play or most other charges.
This guide covers which hotels are in the program, what earns and what doesn't, how redemptions and transfers work, and when booking through Marriott beats booking through MGM.
How the Partnership Works
A defined list of MGM Resorts hotels is part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. MGM still operates the hotels and the casinos, and MGM Rewards still exists alongside Bonvoy. You choose which program a stay counts toward at the moment you book.
Book through Marriott and the stay earns Bonvoy points. Book through MGM's own websites and it doesn't. Marriott says non-prevailing rates, third-party bookings and MGM Resorts websites don't count as qualifying stays.

Marriott lists 18 properties.

Empire City, Northfield Park and international MGM Resorts properties aren't part of the program.
What Earns Bonvoy Points
You earn 10 Bonvoy points per dollar on qualifying charges. Marriott counts the room rate (excluding room taxes and resort fees), room upgrade fees, and in-room dining and mini-bar charges (excluding taxes, gratuities and service charges). Other folio charges don't earn points, and neither does casino play.
Elite members earn a bonus on those qualifying charges:
- Silver Elite: 10%
- Gold Elite: 25%
- Platinum Elite: 50%
- Titanium Elite: 75%
- Ambassador Elite: 75%
Say your room rate is $300 a night for two nights, before taxes and resort fees. At 10 points per dollar, that's 6,000 base points before any elite bonus. The same stay also earns Elite Night Credits, one per night, for the one room you personally stay in and pay for.
Redeeming Points
You can redeem Bonvoy points for award nights at MGM Collection hotels, but not for spa, dining or incidentals. The points price per night varies by property and changes over time, and you can't combine cash and points in a single night. Upgrade awards aren't available at these hotels, and Marriott's FAQ says free night awards work at each property as it launches, so check your certificate's terms before you plan around one.
Resort fees still apply to award stays. Ambassador members get the resort fee waived on up to two rooms.
To judge a redemption, divide the cash price for the same night (including resort fee and taxes) by the points price. Compare the result with how you value Bonvoy points; our Bonvoy points value guide walks through that math.
Transferring Points Between MGM Rewards and Bonvoy
Points move in both directions at the same ratio: 10 Bonvoy points equal 8 MGM Rewards points, and 10 MGM Rewards points equal 8 Bonvoy points. The rules:
- The minimum is 1,000 points per transaction.
- The annual maximum is 30,000 points in each direction.
- There's no fee.
- The primary account holder's name must match in both programs.
- A completed transfer can't be canceled, changed or refunded.
Because the ratio loses 20% either way, a transfer only makes sense to top up a specific booking, not as a routine move.
Status Matching and Elite Perks
Linking your MGM Rewards account from My Rewards matches your MGM tier to a Bonvoy tier:
- MGM Pearl matches Silver Elite.
- MGM Gold or Platinum matches Gold Elite.
- MGM NOIR matches Ambassador Elite.
The match lasts while you keep an active MGM Rewards account at Pearl or higher. It runs one way only, from MGM Rewards to Bonvoy, and MGM Rewards Tier Credits don't count toward Bonvoy elite status.
Elite perks at these hotels, based on Marriott's FAQ:
- Gold: a welcome gift of 500 points per stay.
- Platinum and Titanium: enhanced room upgrades based on availability, a priority check-in line, a 2:00 p.m. late checkout subject to availability, and a welcome gift of 1,000 points per stay or a $20 food and beverage credit per night ($30 at W Las Vegas).
- Ambassador: a waived resort fee, one confirmed suite upgrade a year at a Las Vegas hotel (up to a 3-night stay), self-parking, and the same welcome gift or credit as Platinum and Titanium.
When to Book Through Marriott
Book through Marriott when you hold Bonvoy points to spend, you're chasing Bonvoy elite nights, or you want your Bonvoy status recognized at the hotel. Compare the cash rate on Marriott with the rate on MGM's site first, since a cheaper direct rate isn't worth much if the stay earns nothing.
Book through MGM directly if you're a tracked-play gambler. A comp room built around your play is worth more than the points a paid stay would earn, and an MGM booking earns MGM Rewards instead. Our guide to earning Bonvoy points covers the other ways to build a balance.
