As of October 1, 2026, IHG One Rewards is paying double points on stays through December 31, 2026, and triple points when you book in the IHG One Rewards app. You have to register first, and the bonus starts with your second qualifying stay, not your first.
Bonus earning is unlimited. If you have IHG nights planned before the end of the year, register before you check in.
Deal Details
Here's how the "Up to 3X" promotion works, per IHG's offer page and terms:
- Stay dates: October 1 to December 31, 2026.
- Registration: required, and you can register through December 31, 2026. Stays completed before you register don't count, even if they fall inside the promotion period.
- 2X points from your second qualifying stay onward when you book through an IHG-owned direct channel.
- 3X points from your second qualifying stay onward when you book in the IHG One Rewards app (Android or iOS). IHG also lists WeChat, LINE and the HarmonyOS app in certain markets.
- No bonus on your first qualifying stay. It still has to be booked direct to count as stay one.
- No cap on bonus points.
A qualifying stay is at least one night at a participating hotel on a qualifying rate, with spend over US $30 a night, booked direct with IHG. Reward Nights, Points & Cash stays and bookings through sites like Booking.com or Expedia don't qualify.
The multiplier applies to base points only. IHG's own example is a $100 night at a hotel that earns 10 base points per dollar: 1,000 base points plus 1,000 bonus points at 2X, or plus 2,000 bonus points at 3X. Elite bonus points aren't multiplied, and the promotional points don't count toward elite status.
How to Take Advantage
- Register for the promotion before your next stay. You can only register once.
- Book your first stay direct with IHG. A cheap night works, since it earns no bonus anyway, as long as it's on a qualifying rate and over US $30 a night.
- Book every stay after that in the IHG One Rewards app to get 3X instead of 2X. The channel you book each stay through sets its multiplier.
Why This Deal Matters
With no cap, the promotion is worth the most to anyone with several paid IHG stays between now and the new year, especially longer business trips booked in the app.
There are two catches. The first stay is a throwaway for bonus purposes, so a single-stay traveler gets nothing. And only one registered member per room earns the bonus, so two registered members sharing a room can't both earn the bonus.
