Stacking IHG Card Elite Night Credits Toward 50 Nights: What Chase's Terms Say

Chase's IHG cards deposit 5, 15 or 20 Elite Night Credits a year, plus credits for spending. Here's what the terms say about two cards and reaching 50 nights.

Key Points

  • The IHG One Rewards, Premier, Premier Select and Business cards deposit 5, 15, 20 and 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year.
  • Chase's terms say you can only receive each card's number of credits regardless of how many IHG cards are linked to your account.
  • Fifty nights is an IHG Milestone Rewards level with one choice, 10,000 bonus points or 5 Food & Beverage Rewards, not a status tier.

Each Chase IHG One Rewards card deposits a fixed number of Elite Night Credits every calendar year: 5 on the no-fee IHG One Rewards Credit Card, 15 on the Premier, 20 on the Premier Select and 15 on the Business card. On holding more than one, Chase's terms for every card use the same sentence: "You can only receive [that number of] ENCs, regardless of the number of IHG One Rewards cards that are linked with a IHG One Rewards account." So before you plan on two cards' credits landing together, get Chase or IHG to confirm it for your accounts.

That sentence is the crux for anyone trying to reach 50 nights mostly through cards. This guide sets out what each card gives toward IHG status, how the spend-based credits work, and what 50 nights gets you. Everything here comes from IHG's credit card and card comparison pages, IHG's tier and Milestone Rewards terms, and Chase's offer details for all four cards, read on October 9, 2026.

What Each Card Gives Toward Status

Chase refreshed the IHG lineup this fall; our coverage of the IHG card refresh and the new Premier Select has the full changes. Here's what each card adds toward elite status now.

  • IHG One Rewards Credit Card ($0 annual fee): automatic Silver Elite status, 5 Elite Night Credits a year, and Gold Elite status for the rest of the year and the next after $15,000 in purchases in a calendar year.
  • IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card ($150): automatic Gold Elite, 15 Elite Night Credits a year, 2 more for every $5,000 you spend, and 5 more plus Platinum Elite after $15,000 in a calendar year. Diamond Elite comes after $40,000 in a calendar year.
  • IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card ($350): automatic Platinum Elite, 20 Elite Night Credits a year, 2 more for every $5,000, 5 more after $15,000, and Diamond Elite after $25,000 in a calendar year.
  • IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card ($200): automatic Platinum Elite, 15 Elite Night Credits a year, 2 more for every $5,000, and 5 more after $25,000 in a calendar year. Starting January 1, 2027, $50,000 in a calendar year earns Diamond Elite.

For the 2-per-$5,000 credits, Chase's terms add: "There is no limit to the number of Elite Night Credits that you can earn."

How the Annual Credits Post

Chase's terms give the same timing for all four cards. The first deposit lands in your IHG One Rewards account within 6 to 8 weeks of opening the card. After that, the credits arrive by February 1 each calendar year.

A few conditions apply:

  1. They go to the primary cardmember. The terms say "you, as the primary cardmember" receive them.
  2. The card has to be open and not in default when the credits are deposited.
  3. Your IHG account has to be active and in good standing.

The 2-per-$5,000 credits take 6 to 8 weeks to post after you earn them, and Chase says "only Elite Night Credits earned within a given calendar year will count toward status for the same year."

Holding More Than One Card

Here's what the terms say, card by card, about more than one IHG card on the same account.

The annual credits. Each card's offer details carry that "regardless of the number of IHG One Rewards cards" sentence with its own number: 5, 15, 20 or 15. It's written once per card. If you hold, say, a Premier and a Business and are counting on both deposits, ask Chase in a secure message how that sentence applies to your two cards, and keep the reply.

Status earned by spending. This one is explicit. The Premier's Platinum and Diamond awards, the Premier Select's and Business card's Diamond awards, and the no-fee card's Gold award each say: "Only one IHG One Rewards Credit Card account per IHG One Rewards member is eligible" for that status award. Each threshold counts purchases with that card, so put status spend on one card.

The spend credits. The 2-per-$5,000 credits and the 5-credit bonuses are earned on purchases with that card, on top of its annual deposit. Chase's "no limit" line covers the 2-per-$5,000 credits.

What 50 Nights Gets You

Fifty isn't a status tier. IHG's tier page lists Silver at 10 nights, Gold at 20 nights or 40,000 points, Platinum at 40 nights or 60,000 points, and Diamond at 70 nights or 120,000 points.

The 50 comes from Milestone Rewards. IHG's terms give you a reward every 10 qualifying nights in a calendar year, from 20 nights up to 100. The chart shows:

  • 40 nights: two choices, from 10,000 bonus points, 5 Food & Beverage Rewards, a Confirmable Suite Upgrade or an Annual Lounge Membership.
  • 50 nights: one choice, 10,000 bonus points or 5 Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 70 nights: two choices again, with the suite upgrade and lounge membership back on the list.

Each Food & Beverage Reward is worth up to $20 against food and drink charges at participating IHG hotels. You have 90 days after reaching a milestone to pick your reward, or it's forfeited.

Here's why the card credits matter. Chase's terms say the annual credits "will be counted for purposes of determining Elite membership status and Milestone Rewards." The 5-credit bonuses at $15,000 or $25,000 carry the same wording. The 2-per-$5,000 credits are described as counting "toward status"; IHG's own terms say bonus credits may also count toward Milestone Rewards, based on the terms of the individual partner offer. If milestones are your goal, lean on the annual and threshold credits, and ask IHG how the spend credits show up in your Rewards Wallet.

A Worked Example With One Card

Say you hold only the Premier Select and put $30,000 on it this year. Under Chase's terms you'd collect the 20 annual credits, 5 more for passing $15,000, and 2 for each $5,000, which is 12 at that spend. The 25 from the annual deposit and the $15,000 bonus are the ones stated to count toward Milestone Rewards, so in this example you'd need 25 more qualifying nights to reach 50 on those alone. You'd also hit Diamond status at $25,000 in spending, which is its own path that doesn't depend on nights.

Run the same exercise with your own spend before you apply. The numbers move fast with the card you pick.

Where to Start

If you stay at IHG often enough to care about 50 nights, start with the card whose status and annual credits fit your spend: the Premier Select if you'll put $25,000 a year on it for Diamond, the Premier if $15,000 for Platinum is more realistic. Add a second IHG card only after Chase or IHG has told you, in writing, how its annual credits combine with your first card's.
