Frontier has cut the bar for its top elite tier. Elite Diamond now takes 75,000 Elite Status Points instead of 100,000, and that change is already live.
The same announcement raises earning rates for Frontier Airlines World Mastercard holders who book bundles. Read together, the two changes point the programme somewhere specific, and it is worth being clear about where.
What Frontier announced
The airline published the changes on August 27, 2026.
Elite Diamond drops to 75,000 Elite Status Points, down from 100,000, effective immediately. That is a quarter off the hardest tier in the programme, and it is a genuine improvement for anyone who was already flying at that level.
From September 1, 2026, cardmembers earn more on bundles. The rates on bundled bookings for Frontier Airlines World Mastercard holders run:
- Elite Diamond: 22 miles per dollar
- Elite Platinum: 18 miles per dollar
- Elite Gold: 16 miles per dollar
- Elite Silver: 14 miles per dollar
- Members with no status: 12 miles per dollar
Select cardmembers also pick up an additional 5x miles and 1x Elite Status Point per dollar.
Milestone rewards arrive in 2027, letting elite members choose extra perks on top of their tier benefits. Frontier has not published what those perks are.

The number that is not in the headline
The rates above are for bundles bought on the co-brand card. On tickets without a bundle, the same announcement puts earning between 4x miles for a member with no status and 14x for an Elite Diamond cardmember.
That 4x is worth sitting with. When Frontier relaunched Frontier Miles in January 2024, the airline's own announcement set the base rate at 10 miles per dollar on eligible purchases, with multipliers rising by tier to 20x.
The two announcements do not define their categories identically, so this is not a like-for-like comparison and Frontier does not present it as a reduction. But a member with no status and no bundle is looking at a materially lower rate today than the launch base rate, and the top of the range now requires both the card and the bundle.
What the programme is actually optimising for
Put the two halves together and the direction is clear enough. The highest rates are reserved for the combination of co-brand card plus bundled fare. The lowest rate applies to the plain ticket bought without either.
That is a common design and it is not hidden. It does mean the honest answer to "is this better for me" depends almost entirely on how you buy.
A lower Diamond threshold is straightforwardly good news, but it is the benefit that reaches the smallest group. Very few travellers were sitting between 75,000 and 100,000 status points. The earning changes touch everyone who books a Frontier ticket.
Who this suits and who it does not
If you hold the Frontier World Mastercard and buy bundles, this is a clear gain. You are the customer the new rate table is built for, and 22x on a Diamond bundle is a strong rate by any airline's standards.
If you are chasing Diamond, the shorter path is real. Twenty-five thousand fewer status points is roughly a fifth of a year's flying for a frequent Frontier customer.
If you fly Frontier occasionally on plain fares without the card, this is the group the changes serve least. At 4x on a non-bundled ticket, miles accrue slowly, and the case for concentrating spend here is weaker than it was at launch.

The part not in the headline is that a non-bundled ticket earns 4x for a member with no status, against the 10x base rate Frontier launched the programme with in 2024. The programme rewards the card-plus-bundle combination and is less generous outside it. Whether that is an improvement depends on how you buy, not on the tier you hold.
