Delta Air Lines has reportedly dropped its Detroit to Reykjavik nonstop for 2027. The Bulkhead Seat reported on October 23 that Delta is ending its Detroit (DTW) to Keflavik (KEF) nonstop and hasn't scheduled the route for 2027. Simple Flying reports the same thing, saying Delta has chosen to cancel the route for 2027. Delta started the Detroit flight in 2023. If you were planning to reach Iceland from Detroit next year, here's what's reported and what to check.
What the Reports Say
The Bulkhead Seat cites a post from Ishrion Aviation that says Delta will cancel the Detroit to Reykjavik route and that the flights won't return next year. Simple Flying links to an AeroRoutes item for its report. Both outlets say the route is off the schedule for 2027.
Delta's own schedule is the place to confirm this, so treat the cancellation as reported until you've checked your dates there.
Delta's Other Routes to Iceland
Delta's announcement adds a daily Boston to Reykjavik nonstop from April 12 through October 30, 2027, on a Boeing 757-200, and The Bulkhead Seat describes it as Delta shifting its Iceland expansion to Boston. Simple Flying says Delta also flies to Reykjavik from Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York-JFK. We covered the Boston route in Delta's Boston to Reykjavik daily flights and in its wider 2027 Europe season.
The same Delta announcement adds a new Detroit nonstop to Europe: Athens, three times a week from June 8 through October 28, 2027. We covered it with Boston to Venice in our earlier article on Delta's new 2027 routes.
What to Do If You Had Detroit Plans
Start by looking up Detroit to Reykjavik on delta.com for your 2027 dates. If the nonstop doesn't appear, one option is to connect through Boston, where Delta has announced its new Reykjavik flight, or through Minneapolis-St. Paul or New York-JFK, which Simple Flying lists among Delta's Iceland routes. Check the connection times on Delta's site. If you've already booked the Detroit flight, contact Delta directly to find out what your ticket allows.
If you're paying with SkyMiles, price the Boston routing before you commit. Check Delta's schedule again closer to booking, since this is a report and Delta's own pages are what decide.
