As of October 2, 2026, some Citi cardholders have a targeted Amazon offer: 40% off an eligible purchase, up to $50, when you pay with at least 125 Citi ThankYou points at checkout. It runs through December 31, 2026. It's targeted, so not everyone gets it, and some accounts see a smaller version. Citi also has a separate 10% sale on select gift cards through October 31, covered below.

Deal Details

  • The discount: up to 40% off eligible products on Amazon.com, with a maximum discount of $50.
  • The trigger: apply at least 125 ThankYou points to the order. You don't need to pay for the whole purchase with points.
  • The deadline: December 31, 2026.
  • Activation: you have to activate the offer before you check out.
  • Targeted: Amazon's offer page asks you to sign in to see if you qualify, and your account may show a lower discount or none at all.

How to Take Advantage

  1. Add a Citi card that earns ThankYou points to your Amazon account and link it so you can pay with points.
  2. Sign in to Amazon and go to amazon.com/citipromotion to see whether you have the offer and which version. If it's there, activate it.
  3. Add eligible items to your cart and choose that Citi card as your payment method.
  4. Apply 125 ThankYou points, no more, and let the card cover the rest. The discount should show before you place the order.

If the offer doesn't show right after you link the card, check again after 24 hours.

Why This Deal Matters

Redeeming ThankYou points at Amazon is usually a poor use of them. This is the exception, because the points do almost nothing here: 125 of them unlock a discount worth far more. Say your cart comes to $80 and you have the full 40% version: that's $32 off for 125 points, with the rest on your card.

What you shouldn't do is pay for the whole order with points. Use the minimum and keep the rest of your balance for transfers, where ThankYou points usually go further. Citi's 10% Gift Card Sale

Separately, Citi has select gift cards on sale for 10% fewer ThankYou points through October 31, 2026. Citi's gift card page shows, for example, $25 cards from Academy Sports + Outdoors, adidas, Chewy, Macy's, MGM Resorts, PetSmart and Topgolf at 2,250 points, down from 2,500, and $10 Nordstrom cards at 900 points, down from 1,000.

Citi notes that redemption rates and reward sales may vary depending on which Citi card you have, so sign in to see your prices. Even on sale, gift cards are worth it only for a store you'd spend at anyway.

Who Should Check

Anyone with a Citi card that earns ThankYou points and an Amazon order coming before December 31 should check the offer page now. If you have it, use it on a purchase you were already making, and spend only the 125 points. If you're not targeted, Citi's gift card sale runs through October 31.
