As of October 2, 2026, Qatar Airways is paying up to 35% bonus Avios when you convert Citi ThankYou points to Privilege Club, through October 31, 2026. The bonus is tiered by how many Avios land in a single transfer: 15% below 50,000, 25% from 50,000 to 99,999, and 35% at 100,000 or more. Separate transfers aren't added together, so if you're aiming for the top tier, it has to be one transfer. This is Qatar's promotion, and Citi is on its list of participating partners.

Deal Details

  • 15% bonus Avios when you convert up to 49,999 Avios in a single transaction.
  • 25% bonus Avios when you convert 50,000 to 99,999 Avios in a single transaction.
  • 35% bonus Avios when you convert 100,000 or more Avios in a single transaction.
  • The window: October 1, 2026, at 00:00 through October 31, 2026, at 23:59, both Qatar time (GMT+3).
  • Per transfer, not per month: Qatar calculates the bonus on each conversion on its own, and says accumulated transactions don't qualify.
  • When the bonus posts: Qatar says bonus Avios will be credited to your Privilege Club account by November 30, 2026.
  • Who qualifies: Privilege Club members who are also customers of a participating partner. Citibank is listed for the United States.

The tiers count Avios, not ThankYou points, and which Citi card you hold changes how many Avios each point becomes. Citi's own page shows two rates to Qatar. The Citi Strata Elite, Citi Strata Premier, Citi Prestige and AT&T Access More get 1,000 Avios per 1,000 points. The Citi ThankYou Preferred, Citi Strata, Citi Double Cash, Citi Custom Cash, Citi ThankYou Mastercard and the other AT&T cards Citi lists get 700 Avios per 1,000 points.

How to Take Advantage

  1. Find the award first. Price it in Avios and check the taxes and fees before you move anything.
  2. Make sure you have a Privilege Club account. Citi's transfer terms say transfers to Qatar are only for Privilege Club members.
  3. Work out how many Avios you need, then decide which tier that lands in. If you're close to 50,000 or 100,000, it can be worth moving enough to cross the line in one go.
  4. Transfer from your ThankYou account in a single transaction. Citi says transfers to Qatar often complete within 24 hours but can take up to 5 business days.
  5. Book once the Avios arrive, and expect the bonus by November 30.

Why This Deal Matters

The tier rule is the part to plan around. Say you hold a Citi Strata Premier and transfer 100,000 points in one go: that's 100,000 Avios, which earns the 35% tier, so 35,000 bonus Avios on top. Split the same points into two transfers of 50,000 and each earns 25% instead.

The card rate matters too. Say you only hold a Citi Double Cash and move 100,000 points: at 1,000 to 700, that's 70,000 Avios, which sits in the 25% tier, not the 35% one. That's why the 1,000 to 1,000 rate on cards like the Citi Strata Premier matters most for anyone aiming at the top tier.

Rove members get the same Qatar promotion, which we covered in our Rove October transfer bonuses piece. Citi has its own bonuses running this month as well: 25% to Avianca LifeMiles and 30% to JAL Mileage Bank, both through October 24. Our Citi ThankYou transfer partners guide covers the rest of the list.

Who Should Transfer

This is for ThankYou members with a Qatar award priced and available, especially one big enough to justify a single transfer of 50,000 or 100,000 Avios. If you'd be moving points without a booking in mind, leave them in your Citi account. The promotion ends October 31, 2026, at 23:59 Qatar time.
