As of October 1, 2026, Capital One is running a 20% transfer bonus to British Airways, and it lasts through October 31, 2026. Capital One miles normally move to the British Airways Club at 1:1, so for this month 1,000 Capital One miles become 1,200 Avios. If you already have an Avios award priced out, October is the month to make the transfer. If you don't, there's no reason to move miles just because a bonus showed up.

Deal Details

  • The bonus: 20% extra on Capital One miles transferred to the British Airways Club.
  • The ratio: 1,000 Capital One miles to 1,200 Avios, up from the usual 1,000 to 1,000.
  • The deadline: October 31, 2026.
  • The minimum: 1,000 Capital One miles, and the name on your Capital One account has to match the name on your British Airways Club account.
  • No undo: Capital One says there's no way to move miles back into your rewards account once a transfer is finalized.

How to Take Advantage

  1. Find the award seat first and note its Avios price, on British Airways or on whichever Avios program you plan to book through.
  2. Sign in to your Capital One account online or in the Capital One Mobile app and go to the rewards section.
  3. Choose the option to transfer miles, pick British Airways Club, check that the bonus shows on the transfer screen and confirm.
  4. Booking with Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways or Finnair instead? Move the Avios from your British Airways Club account to that program after they land.

Our guide to Capital One transfer times covers how quickly miles usually post to each partner.

Why This Deal Matters

Avios aren't only a British Airways currency. British Airways lets you move them between its own program and Iberia Club, AerClub, Loganair Loyalty, Vueling Club, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Finnair Plus. It says the transfer happens immediately and that your Avios keep the same value. One bonused transfer into British Airways can fund an award on any of those programs, including a seat in British Airways World Traveller Plus.

Here's how it plays out. Say the seat you want costs 60,000 Avios. Without the bonus, that's 60,000 Capital One miles. With it, 50,000 miles covers the seat, and the 10,000 miles you didn't spend stay in your account for the next trip.

Capital One ran the same 20% bonus to British Airways last fall, so this isn't a rare event. It's still a real discount if the seat is already in front of you. British Airways sits in Capital One's 1:1 airline group, and our transferable points comparison shows how Capital One's partner list stacks up against Chase, Amex, Citi and Bilt.

To earn miles that transfer, you need a Capital One rewards card such as the Capital One Venture or, for business spending, the Capital One Venture X Business.

Who Should Transfer

This bonus is for Capital One cardholders with a British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways or Finnair award already priced and available. Skip it if you're transferring on speculation: Capital One says a finalized transfer can't be moved back, so miles sent for a trip that falls through stay as Avios. The bonus ends October 31, 2026, so price the seat now and transfer once it's confirmed.
