Key Points

  • Asiana leaves Star Alliance at 11:59 p.m. Korea time on December 16, 2026, and its integrated mileage program with Korean Air takes effect on December 17.
  • Existing Asiana Club miles stay as a separate balance for 10 years and can be converted to Korean Air SKYPASS miles on request, at 1:1 for flown miles and 1:0.82 for partner miles.
  • Asiana lists ticketing and travel deadlines for its miles on each Star Alliance partner, and the earliest ones fall on October 31 and November 30.

If you hold an Aeroplan award on Asiana, plan to fly it by December 16. Asiana leaves Star Alliance at 11:59 p.m. Korea Standard Time that day, and from December 17 its flights operate under Korean Air flight numbers. Korean Air's own integration page wouldn't load for our check on October 19, 2026, so the details below come from Asiana's notices, which are the airline's own, except the Aeroplan deadline, which comes from reports. Confirm anything you plan around with Korean Air.

What Happens to Partner Awards

Reports agree that Aeroplan and other Star Alliance partners can book and fly award tickets on Asiana only for travel completed on or before December 16. If you hold a partner award for a later date, contact your program before then rather than waiting.

Asiana's June 23 notice covers the other direction, tickets bought with Asiana Club miles on Star Alliance partners. A partner award ticketed for travel on or after December 17, 2026, outside the dates Asiana lists for that airline, won't be valid for travel, and Asiana says affected tickets will be fully refunded and the miles reinstated without penalty. Even a ticketed award inside those dates can be canceled under the operating airline's policy, with the same refund. The Dates

Asiana will keep its Star Alliance membership until December 16, 2026, the day before integration, and Star Alliance elite benefits are valid on or before that date. The integrated mileage program takes effect on December 17. Asiana flights departing on or after December 17 operate under Korean Air flight numbers and are operated by Korean Air. After the integration date, Asiana says you can enjoy SkyTeam benefits as part of the integrated Korean Air network.

Star Alliance partner programs credit miles for Asiana flights that departed on or before October 15, 2026, and Asiana says missing-mileage claims for them are accepted until October 31.

Your Asiana Club Miles

Asiana's integration guide of September 30, 2025, says existing Asiana Club miles are kept as "former Asiana Mileage" for 10 years from the integration date, and can be used until their original validity date. New miles you earn after the integration are credited as Korean Air SKYPASS miles, and former Asiana Mileage is no longer earned.

You can hold both balances in one SKYPASS account. Combining them requires converting your whole former Asiana balance on your own request: partial conversion isn't allowed and a conversion can't be reversed. The ratios are 1:1 for flown miles and 1:0.82 for partner miles. Whatever remains after 10 years is converted at the same ratios, and miles that have already expired are forfeited.

Former Asiana Mileage can pay for Korean Air award tickets in Economy and Prestige class, upgrade awards, Cash and Miles payments of up to 30% of an online fare, and Mileage Mall purchases. Members who don't give consent for sharing data with SkyTeam partners face restricted earning, redemption and elite benefits from December 17. Members already registered with Korean Air SKYPASS don't need to give separate consent.

Your Status

Asiana says every member is granted a Korean Air tier that matches their existing Asiana tier on the integration date, with the validity period kept:

  • Platinum (lifetime) becomes Million Miler (lifetime).
  • Diamond Plus (lifetime) becomes Morning Calm Premium (lifetime).
  • Diamond Plus and Diamond (24 months) become Morning Calm Select, a new tier with SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits.
  • Gold (24 months) becomes Morning Calm (24 months).

Members with status in both programs get the higher tier.

Using Asiana Miles on Partners First

Asiana set ticketing and travel deadlines by operating airline for Asiana Club miles. Tickets on Copa, Lufthansa, Swiss, Air New Zealand, Austrian and Brussels must be both ticketed and flown on or before October 31, and on Air India, Ethiopian, LOT, EgyptAir and ANA on or before November 30. Tickets on Air Canada, EVA, Air China, South African, Singapore, Thai, TAP, United and Shenzhen must be both ticketed and flown on or before December 16. Aegean, Avianca, Croatia and Turkish tickets must be issued by December 16, with travel by December 16, 2027. Asiana also requires Star Alliance award tickets to be booked and ticketed at least three days before the first departure.
