As of October 1, 2026, American Express Membership Rewards is paying a 20% bonus on points transferred to Aeromexico Rewards, for a limited time this month. Instead of the usual 1,600 Aeromexico Rewards points for every 1,000 Amex points, you get 1,920.
It's a decent top-off if you already have an Aeromexico award picked out. It's not a reason to move points without one.

Amex's public, logged-out transfer page still lists the standard 1,600 rate, so check the rate on the transfer screen before you confirm.
How to Take Advantage
- Find the award seat first. Amex's terms point you to aeromexicorewards.com or 1-800-247-3737 to check availability before you transfer.
- Enroll in Aeromexico Rewards if you haven't, and link the account in Membership Rewards.
- Transfer only what the booking needs, and book once the points arrive. Amex notes you can't book until they're credited.
Why This Deal Matters
Say an award you want costs 19,200 Aeromexico Rewards points. During the bonus, 10,000 Membership Rewards points cover it; at the normal rate, the same 10,000 points get you 16,000.
Two things in Amex's own terms should slow you down. Transfers can't be reversed once they're made, and taxes, fees and carrier surcharges may apply on Aeromexico award flights and upgrades. Price the cash portion of the award before you commit, because a surcharge can eat the value of the extra points.
