American Airlines is reopening Flagship Dining at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after more than six years. An American spokesperson said on October 28 that the dining room, inside the Flagship Lounge, reopens next week.
What's Reopening
Flagship Dining is a sit-down restaurant inside the Flagship Lounge. It closed in March 2020, when it was still called Flagship First Dining. American has since dropped "First" from the name. Since September 15, 2026, the dining rooms at Dallas Fort Worth and Miami have been open to qualifying business class passengers, and LAX is next.
American has also introduced a new dining menu, including a pairing of KHK Hillside cabernet sauvignon with K+M chocolates.
Who Can Get In
- Flagship Business and Flagship Business Plus passengers on qualifying long-haul international, premium transcontinental and Flagship Hawaii itineraries. That includes eligible Flagship flights between Los Angeles and New York (JFK). The flight must be marketed and operated by American, and these passengers can't bring a guest.
- Eligible first class passengers on partner airlines.
- AAdvantage Executive Platinum members, who can redeem 20,000 miles for a Flagship Dining pass, and Platinum Pro members, who can redeem 25,000 miles. The pass covers the member plus immediate family or up to two guests on an eligible same-day American or oneworld flight, even in economy, and it includes the Flagship Lounge.
A regular domestic first class ticket doesn't get you in. AAdvantage or oneworld status alone doesn't either; you need one of the paths above.
What to Know Before You Go
When the room is full, American uses an electronic waitlist, so see the host as soon as you get to the lounge.
