Reported offers go up to 50% off, with a maximum discount of $80, and some cardholders get a smaller discount, such as 40% or 15%. Check the terms of your offer for your discount and any point minimum before you shop.

How the Amazon Amex Offers Promotion Works

When an offer is active, eligible Amex cardholders get a targeted discount at Amazon checkout in exchange for redeeming a small number of Membership Rewards points. Most versions of this offer ask you to redeem at least 1,429 points, but minimums are targeted and yours may differ, so check it. The real saving comes from the percentage discount applied to the rest of your order.

Redeeming only the minimum your offer asks for is the one time using Membership Rewards on Amazon makes sense, because the discount can be worth far more than the points. Outside an offer like this, paying with points at Amazon is one of the worst values you can get out of Amex points, so don't redeem more than the minimum.

How to Use the Offer

  1. Link your Amex card to your Amazon account before you shop.
  2. Check amazon.com/amexoffer to confirm whether you're targeted and which tier you got.
  3. Read your offer's terms for any activation step and the purchases it covers.
  4. Check that your order meets those terms before you redeem.
  5. At checkout, redeem only the minimum number of points your offer requires and pay the rest with the linked Amex card.
  6. Use a U.S.-issued Amex card that earns Membership Rewards.

Before You Buy

If you don't have an immediate purchase that fits your discount, read your offer's terms before buying gift cards with it.
