Some Rapid Rewards members are being offered 80,000 points on the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus card after $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. The annual fee is $99. It's a targeted offer, and Chase's public page shows 50,000 points instead.
What the Offer Is
The offer is 80,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Chase's public Southwest Plus page, read October 22, 2026, shows 50,000 bonus points for the same $1,000 in 3 months. So the 80,000 is the elevated offer, and the 50,000 is the one anyone can see.
Who Can Get It
The offer is going to selected Rapid Rewards members by email.
Chase's terms for its public offer say the card isn't available if you have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards card, or if you received a new Cardmember bonus on one within the last 24 months. That rule doesn't apply to Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card members.
The Dates
One report says the offer ends December 2, 2026. Another gives December 2, 2026 only as the Companion Pass approval cutoff, described below. That cutoff is for approval, not for the application, so apply well before December 2 either way.
Why the Companion Pass Matters
Southwest changes the Companion Pass on January 1, 2027, and credit card welcome bonuses stop counting toward it then. Southwest says cardmembers approved on or before December 2, 2026 who meet the welcome bonus requirements can have those points count as Companion Pass qualifying points, even if they meet the spend in early 2027. Southwest also says all Companion Pass qualification activity must post by the end of 2026, and a pass earned under the 2026 rules gives unlimited companion trips through December 31, 2027. Our Southwest Rapid Rewards guide covers the 2027 rules.
What to Do Next
Check your inbox for the Southwest email, and use the link in it if you want the 80,000. Look at the bonus on the application page before you submit, since 50,000 means you're seeing the public offer. If you're not sure the card fits, our Southwest Plus review covers the fee, the earning rates and who should pick Premier instead.
