How Points & Cash Works
IHG's own description is plain: Points & Cash lets you "use some of your existing points plus buy the remaining points needed." So the cash you pay is a points purchase that goes straight into the award. You need at least 5,000 points in your account to use it.
That has one consequence worth knowing before you book. IHG says that if you cancel a Reward Night or Points & Cash reservation, you're refunded in points only. You get points back, not the cash you paid.
How to Check Your Account
- Sign in at ihg.com.
- Search your dates with Reward Nights selected as the rate preference.
- Pick a hotel and choose a Points & Cash option. If your account has the offer, the discounted cash price shows at booking.
- Book by November 2, 2026, for a stay through November 16, 2026.
When the Discount Is Worth Using
Treat it as a points purchase, because that's what it is. Before you book, price the same night on all points, and check what IHG is charging for points on its buy-points page that day. The discount helps most when you're a few thousand points short of a night you'd book anyway, and the stay is firm enough that a refund in points wouldn't bother you.
