Key Points

  • Expedia announced on October 6, 2026 that U.S. One Key Gold members now get its flight delay lounge benefit, alongside Platinum.
  • A delay of 90 minutes or more on an eligible flight booked through Expedia brings a LoungeKey pass, or $20 in OneKeyCash per passenger where no lounge is available.
  • Flights must be registered at least 24 hours before departure, and the pilot covers eligible flights booked from September 30, 2026 through December 31, 2027.

Expedia One Key Gold members now get the same flight delay perk that Platinum members had: when an eligible flight booked through Expedia is delayed by 90 minutes or more, you can get a free pass to an airport lounge or another airport experience. Expedia announced the expansion on October 6, 2026, and says the benefit runs as a pilot for eligible flights booked between September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2027.

If no lounge or alternative is available at your airport, each eligible passenger on the itinerary gets $20 in OneKeyCash instead. The catch is a step you have to take before you fly, which is easy to miss.

Who Qualifies

The benefit covers U.S. One Key members at Gold and Platinum, plus the other travelers on the same itinerary. Status comes from Trip Elements: Expedia's release puts Silver at 5, Gold at 15 and Platinum at 30. An eligible flight ticket still counts as one Trip Element, even though standalone flights no longer earn OneKeyCash through the loyalty program. The flight itself has to be booked through Expedia.

Register at Least 24 Hours Before Departure

This is the step that matters. Expedia's FAQ says flights must be registered at least 24 hours before scheduled departure, and certain airlines are excluded. If you're Gold or Platinum and you book a flight through Expedia, register it as soon as the booking is confirmed.

What the Pass Gets You

Passes work in the LoungeKey network, which Expedia says includes independent operators such as The Club, Escape Lounges, Plaza Premium and Aspire. Depending on the airport, the pass may also cover participating airport bars and restaurants, spas, gaming lounges and sleep pods. Major airline-branded lounges are generally excluded.

When no participating lounge or alternative exists at the airport, the fallback is $20 in OneKeyCash for each eligible passenger on the itinerary. Every $1 in OneKeyCash is worth $1 toward eligible bookings, and it isn't redeemable for cash, so think of it as credit toward a future trip.

Should You Book Flights Through Expedia for This?

For most travelers, no. The perk only pays out on a delay of 90 minutes or more, and at airports without a participating lounge it's $20 in OneKeyCash per person. If you already hold Gold or Platinum because you book hotels and cars through Expedia, though, it's a reason to book the occasional flight there too and register it right away.
