As of October 1, 2026, Turkish Airlines is paying up to 100% extra miles when you buy Miles&Smiles miles, and the sale runs through October 15, 2026. The headline rate only applies to a single purchase of more than 250,000 miles. A purchase of 50,000 to 250,000 miles earns 25% or 50% extra. If you have a Miles&Smiles award in mind and a shortfall to cover, here's how the tiers work and where the cutoffs sit.

What the Sale Pays

Per Turkish's campaign terms, the extra miles depend on how many you buy in one transaction:

  • 50,000 to 100,000 miles: 25% extra
  • 100,001 to 250,000 miles: 50% extra
  • 250,001 to 500,000 miles: 100% extra

The rate is set purchase by purchase, and separate purchases can't be combined. Turkish gives its own example: buy 50,000 miles and then 75,000 miles in two transactions and you earn 25% extra on each, and the two can't be added together to reach the 50% tier.

The Purchase Cap Is Higher During the Sale

Turkish's standing purchase rules let members buy up to 250,000 miles per calendar year. During the campaign, that ceiling rises to 500,000 miles in a calendar year, which is what puts the 100% tier within reach at all.

Neither the purchased miles nor the extra miles count as Status Miles, so this won't move you toward elite status.

When the Extra Miles Post

The campaign terms say the extra miles land in your account within seven days after the campaign ends. Don't plan a booking that depends on the extra miles until they've posted. Purchased miles are non-refundable.

How to Buy

  1. Log in to your Miles&Smiles account on Turkish's website or app.
  2. Open Miles Transactions and choose to buy miles.
  3. Buy the full amount in one transaction, so it lands in the tier you're aiming for.
  4. Check the price your account quotes before you pay. The standard rate on Turkish's purchase page is $30 per 1,000 miles, including VAT.

Tier Cutoffs and When Buying Pays Off

The tier cutoffs matter more than the headline. Say you were planning to buy 100,000 miles. That's the top of the 25% tier, so you'd get 25,000 extra. Push it to 100,001 and you're in the 50% tier, worth roughly 50,000 extra. If you're near a cutoff, check whether the next tier gets you more for little extra spend.

Buying only pays off when you've already priced a specific award and the miles come out cheaper than the cash fare. Our guide to when buying miles and points makes sense walks through that test. If you hold a transferable points currency, check how your points transfer before you pay cash for miles at all.

If you have a Miles&Smiles award picked out and a shortfall to cover, buy in one transaction by October 15. If you don't have a booking in mind, skip it.
