Bilt's Bilt Cash Program Terms of Use, last updated October 27, 2026, include a Thumbtack credit. Members can make two Bilt Cash redemptions per calendar year toward Thumbtack bookings, each for up to $50.
The catch is the calendar. One redemption lives in January 1 through June 30, the other in July 1 through December 31, and neither rolls forward. Here's how the credit works, the two kinds of bookings it covers, and the proof step that decides when your Bilt Cash actually leaves your balance.
What the Bilt Cash Terms Say About Thumbtack
The section is 3.1.9, Thumbtack Credit, in the Bilt Cash Program Terms of Use. Members can make one Bilt Cash redemption toward Thumbtack in each half of the calendar year, and each one can be for up to $50 of Bilt Cash.
The no-carryover rule is spelled out plainly. In Bilt's words: "A redemption that is not used during its period will not carry over to the following period and has no cash value."
That setup will feel familiar if you've looked at the Equinox credit in the same terms, which runs on the same half-year split: credits are issued on January 1 and July 1 and don't carry over. The Equinox amounts vary by Bilt tier, from $75 to $150 per credit, while the Thumbtack cap in section 3.1.9 is $50.
Two Ways to Book: On-Demand and Lead-Gen
Each redemption can go toward one Thumbtack booking, and Bilt recognizes two kinds. Which one you use changes how the Bilt Cash gets applied.
On-Demand Bookings
This is the simple path. You make an eligible On-Demand Booking on the Bilt app or website, and the available Bilt Cash redemption options show up automatically at checkout. You can combine Bilt Cash with Bilt Points and cash on the same booking.
Lead-Gen Bookings
A Lead-Gen Booking is when you request a quote from a Thumbtack professional (a "Pro") through the Bilt app or website, get matched with a Pro, and then book the job directly with that Pro. Here the redemption comes after the job. You follow the steps in the Bilt app and submit evidence of the booking, such as an invoice, a receipt or confirmation of the completed job, within 30 days of job completion.
Bilt and Thumbtack both review that evidence. They can approve or reject a submission, ask for more documentation, or delay or deny the redemption if the booking can't be verified. Once it's verified, Bilt redeems your Bilt Cash on your behalf and issues you a digital check for the amount redeemed.
The Fine Print Worth Knowing Before You Book
This is where I'd slow down, because a couple of these rules can quietly cost you part of the $50.
- One booking per redemption. Each redemption applies to only one booking, up to $50. Any unused part of the $50 limit is forfeited for Thumbtack purposes and can't go toward another Thumbtack booking.
- Lead-Gen timing. The Bilt Cash redemption happens when verification is completed, not when the job was booked or finished. It's deducted based on your redemption limit and Bilt Cash balance at that moment.
- Expiring Bilt Cash. Any Bilt Cash that has expired or is otherwise unavailable at verification can't be redeemed. Bilt Cash expires on the last day of the month that is 12 months after you earn it, at 11:59 p.m. PT, and the earliest-expiring Bilt Cash is used first.
- Redemptions are final. Once Bilt Cash is successfully redeemed, the terms say there's no re-crediting, reversal or refund unless noted at the time of the transaction or covered by the expiration section.
The Lead-Gen rule is the one to watch. Your balance and your limit are checked at verification, so the 30-day evidence window and the Bilt and Thumbtack review both sit between your job and your Bilt Cash.
Who Can Use It
You don't need a Bilt Card. The terms say it isn't required to have one to take part in the Bilt Cash Program. You do need to be an individual Bilt Rewards Member in good standing, a legal resident of the 50 states, the District of Columbia or a U.S. territory, and at least 18 and of the age of majority where you live. One account per person.
The real limit is having Bilt Cash to spend. Under the terms, members earn it at every 25,000-point interval of Qualifying Points toward Elite Status in a calendar year, through Bilt promotions and offers, and Bilt credit card holders get additional earning opportunities under the Bilt Rewards Card Offer Terms. Our Bilt Card 2.0 exclusions list shows which purchases earn no points or Bilt Cash.
This credit suits someone who already has a Bilt Cash balance and books Thumbtack jobs through the Bilt app or website. It doesn't suit you if you'd rather book a Pro outside Bilt, or if you'd skip the evidence-of-booking step on a Lead-Gen job.
What to Do With Your Current Window
If you're reading this by December 31, 2026, the July 1 through December 31 redemption is the one in play. Here's the order I'd follow under the terms.
- Log in to Bilt.com or the Bilt App to view and manage your Bilt Cash.
- For an On-Demand Booking, book on the Bilt app or website and pick the Bilt Cash option at checkout.
- For a Lead-Gen Booking, request your quote through the Bilt app or website, book the matched Pro, and keep the invoice, receipt or completion confirmation.
- Submit that evidence in the Bilt app within 30 days of the job being done.
The terms point to the Bilt Cash FAQ for the current list of redemptions. For the wider program, our Bilt Rewards complete guide covers the cards and Bilt Cash, and our piece on Bilt retiring 4% Bilt Cash in 2027 covers that change and the 12-month life of Bilt Cash.
Your Next Step
If you have Bilt Cash and a Thumbtack job coming up, start it in the Bilt app or website, since both On-Demand and Lead-Gen Bookings begin there. On a Lead-Gen job, send your evidence of booking soon after the job is done rather than near day 30. Your Bilt Cash balance and limit are checked when verification is completed, and any Bilt Cash that has expired by then can't be redeemed.
Bilt says it can modify, add or remove redemption merchants and categories at any time, so confirm the current rules on the terms page before you book.
