American Express now lets you book Airbnb stays through AmexTravel.com and the Amex Travel App. Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card holders earn 5X Membership Rewards points on prepaid short-term rentals booked there, and Airbnb Luxe stays now count toward the $600 Lodging Credit. A prepaid Luxe booking also unlocks up to $250 in statement credits for Airbnb Experiences.

How Booking Works

Every U.S. American Express Card Member can book Airbnb through Amex Travel. Open the Homes tab, enter your destination and dates, and pick a listing. Some listings book instantly, and others are a request to book.

You'll need an Airbnb account in the same name as your Amex online account. Amex prompts you to create or link it during your first booking, and you won't need to link it again unless you disconnect it.

What You Earn

The points apply to prepaid short-term rentals booked with Airbnb through Amex Travel:

  • Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card: 5X Membership Rewards points.
  • Classic Green Card: 3X.
  • Other personal and business Membership Rewards cards: 2X.

Amex lists these rates for Airbnb bookings made through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App.

Lodging Credit and the $250 Experiences Credit

The annual $600 Hotel Credit is now the $600 Lodging Credit. You can get up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings, plus prepaid Airbnb Luxe bookings. The Hotel Collection and Airbnb Luxe need a minimum two-night stay. Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings will need two nights too.

The Experiences credit works like this. Book a prepaid Airbnb Luxe stay through Amex Travel with your Platinum or Business Platinum card each year to unlock it. Once the booking is confirmed, you can get up to $250 in statement credits through the rest of that calendar year when you use the card to buy eligible Airbnb Experiences directly with Airbnb. Experiences that send you from Airbnb to a third-party partner platform to pay, such as live event tickets, aren't eligible.

What to Do Next

If you're planning a trip with a home instead of a hotel, price the Luxe stay against a Fine Hotels + Resorts or Hotel Collection room before you book. Our Airbnb vs. hotel points guide covers when each wins, and our Amex Travel portal guide explains the rest of the portal. The card details are in our Amex Platinum review and Amex Business Platinum review.

Terms apply, and Amex can change them, so read the full terms before you book.
