As of October 1, 2026, American Express is running a 25% transfer bonus to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, and it lasts through October 31, 2026. Amex normally converts 1,000 Membership Rewards points to 1,000 Flying Blue miles, so for this month the same 1,000 points become 1,250 miles. If you have an Air France or KLM award in your sights, this is a good month to fund it. If you don't, leave the points at Amex.
Deal Details
- The bonus: 25% extra on Membership Rewards points transferred to Air France-KLM Flying Blue.
- The ratio: 1,000 points to 1,250 Flying Blue miles, up from the usual 1,000 to 1,000.
- The deadline: October 31, 2026.
- The limits: Amex lists a 1,000-point minimum, a 999,000-point maximum and 1,000-point increments.
- The timing: Amex says transfers are normally immediate but to allow up to 48 hours, and no booking can be made until the miles are in your Flying Blue account.
- No undo: once points move to Flying Blue, they can't be transferred back to Membership Rewards.
How to Take Advantage
- Find the award on Air France or KLM first and note the price in miles and the taxes and surcharges.
- Make sure you have a Flying Blue account; Amex requires enrollment before you can transfer.
- Log in to Amex, open the Membership Rewards transfer page and choose Air France-KLM Flying Blue. The bonus is built into the transfer ratio, so it should show on the transfer screen.
- Transfer what the award needs, wait for the miles to post, then book.
Why This Deal Matters
Amex also ran a 25% bonus to Flying Blue in June 2026, so this isn't a one-off. That doesn't make it less useful. It means the right time to use it is when you already have a trip, not because the calendar says October.
Here's the math. Say the award you want prices at 60,000 Flying Blue miles. At the normal ratio, that's 60,000 Membership Rewards points. With the bonus, 48,000 points covers it.
Two catches. Amex's terms warn that taxes, fees and surcharges may apply on Air France and KLM redemptions, so price the cash portion before you transfer. And the transfer is permanent, so a bonus on miles you never use saves nothing.
Membership Rewards points come from cards like the Amex Gold and Amex Platinum. Our Amex transfer partners guide covers the rest of the partner list, and the Flying Blue program guide explains how to earn and spend the miles once they land.
Who Should Transfer
This bonus is for Amex cardholders with an Air France, KLM or other Flying Blue award priced and available. Skip it if you'd be transferring on speculation. The bonus ends October 31, 2026, so find the seat, confirm the cash portion and move only what the booking needs.
