Amazon Prime members can save 20 cents a gallon on one fuel purchase every Friday from October 2 through January 29. That's double the 10 cents a gallon Prime gives members the rest of the year, and it runs through the whole holiday driving season.
The discount works at more than 7,500 bp, Amoco and participating ampm and Thorntons locations across the US. You need a Prime membership and a free earnify account with bp, linked to your Amazon account.
Here's what it takes to actually get it, and where it fits next to a gas credit card.
What you have to do first
The link is the part people miss. Activate the offer through Amazon's fuel page, which connects your Amazon account to your earnify account with bp. Once that's done you redeem at the pump with the earnify app, your phone number, or a payment method you've already linked.
That setup step matters because Amazon says all you need is a Prime membership and a free earnify account, and activating the offer is what connects the two. It's a one-time job, and it's the only part of this that takes any effort.
One more limit worth knowing before you plan around it: Amazon's wording is "one fuel purchase made each Friday." It's a single transaction, not a Friday-long rate on every tank you buy.
Where this is worth something
The obvious case is a road trip with a Friday in it. Holiday travel between October and late January covers Thanksgiving and Christmas, and if a driving leg lands on a Friday, filling up at a participating station is a free saving on a stop you were making anyway.
The less obvious case is anyone who already fills up weekly and can move that habit to Friday. That's the whole trick here. The offer rewards timing rather than spending, which is unusual, and timing costs nothing.
It's a thin benefit if your regular station isn't a bp or Amoco. Routing miles out of your way to reach one gives back the saving in fuel and time, so this is worth taking when a participating station is already on your route.
The offer runs for close to four months, so a weekly driver who shifts their fill-up gets a long run at it rather than a one-off.
How it stacks with a card
You redeem the discount at the pump through earnify, and the card you pay with is a separate choice. Your card's gas category decides what the fill-up earns, so check it before you pull in.
That makes the combination worth a minute of thought if you drive a lot. Our best gas credit cards guide covers the cards that pay the most at the pump, and our Upside app review covers the other common way people stack savings on fuel.
If you're an Amazon regular more broadly, our best cards for Amazon purchases covers where the Prime Visa earns and where it doesn't.
Whether to bother
Link the earnify account now rather than at the pump, because the setup is the only part that takes effort and doing it in a queue behind someone is how people skip it. After that the discount is automatic on Fridays and costs you nothing to keep.
If you don't drive much, or your usual station isn't in the network, this changes very little. If you do drive weekly and a bp or Amoco is on your route, moving your fill-up to Friday between now and the end of January is about as easy a saving as a Prime membership offers.
