What the Offer Was

This article first covered a 2025 Uber promotion that offered some users five free months of Uber One. As of September 30, 2026, Uber's Uber One page doesn't show a five-month offer. What it shows instead is a 4 week free trial for eligible first-time members, and Uber says the free trial is only for eligible first-time members unless you receive an offer to re-join Uber One. The Uber PayPal page that earlier versions of the deal pointed to returns a page-not-found message.

Where to Get Uber One Free or Discounted Now

These are the offers we could confirm on the brands' own pages on September 30, 2026:

  • Uber's own trial: a 4 week free trial for eligible first-time members, then $9.99/month.
  • Apple Card: Apple Card customers can receive a 6 month free trial of an Uber One monthly subscription when they sign up with Apple Card, with Apple Pay as the payment type on file, through the exclusive link on Apple's Apple Card page. It's for new or returning subscribers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, not existing subscribers, and renews for $9.99/month after the 6 months until canceled.
  • Amex Platinum: up to $120 in statement credits each calendar year after you buy an auto-renewing Uber One membership with the card, monthly or annual.
  • Amex Gold: an Amex Offer for a one-time statement credit of up to $96 on an annual Uber One membership bought by October 30, 2026. You must be a Gold Card Member by October 16, 2026 to enroll through Amex Offers.
  • Delta SkyMiles Amex cards: the Uber One offer for these cards closed to new sign-ups on June 25, 2026, according to Uber's help page.

What Uber One Includes

Uber's page lists these benefits for $9.99/month:

  • $0 Delivery Fee on food, grocery and other orders over the minimum subtotal
  • 5% back on rides as Uber One credits
  • Up to 10% off delivery and pickup orders over the minimum subtotal
  • Automatic surge savings when rider demand is higher than usual
  • 10% back in Uber One credits on hotel bookings and on car rentals
  • Member-only promos and special items

Uber says Uber One credits from rides expire 60 days after they're added to your wallet. For someone ordering Uber Eats a few times a month and taking a couple of rides, the membership can pay for itself. For lighter users, it usually doesn't.

Paying for Uber One With Amex Uber Cash

The Amex Platinum adds $15 in Uber Cash each month plus an additional $20 in December, and the Amex Gold adds $10 each month. Don't count on that Uber Cash to pay for Uber One if you want the card's Uber One credit. Amex's Platinum terms say to keep your Uber Cash balance toggled off for Uber One membership fees so the card is charged directly, and that the credit isn't issued for any part of the fee paid with Uber Cash, Uber One credits or promotions, or for a free trial. The Gold's annual Uber One offer has the same toggle-off requirement.

How Chase Ties In

Chase's Sapphire Reserve page today lists a complimentary DashPass membership, DoorDash promos and Lyft credits among its benefits. If you hold that card, check your own account for any Uber offer before paying for Uber One.

The Right Question

The right question isn't "is there a free trial right now" but "does the card I already use cover this." If the answer is no and you order delivery often enough to justify $9.99/month, the paid membership is fine. If you're a once-a-month user, skip it.

Updated September 30, 2026: Uber's Uber One page no longer shows a five-month offer, so we marked the deal as ended and listed the offers the brands' own pages show today. We removed the claim that monthly Amex Uber Cash can pay the Uber One fee: Amex's Platinum terms say the Uber One credit isn't issued for any part of the fee paid with Uber Cash.
