The highest Hilton Honors tier is Diamond Reserve, added for 2026. Hilton's member benefits page lists it at "80+ nights and $18k USD spend," so it takes a heavy year of stays, not a credit card.
Below it sit Member, Silver, Gold and Diamond. Here's what each step takes and where Diamond is still the better target.
What Each Tier Requires
Hilton counts nights, stays or spend toward the lower tiers, and Base Points no longer count toward them. Per Hilton's tier details:
- Silver: 10 nights, 4 stays or $2,500 in spend.
- Gold: 15 stays, 25 nights or $6,000 in spend.
- Diamond: 50 nights, 25 stays or $11,500 in spend.
- Diamond Reserve: 80 nights and $18,000 in annual eligible spend (Hilton's FAQ also cites 40 stays).
Unlike the lower tiers, Diamond Reserve needs the spend on top of the nights or stays.
What You Earn at Each Level
Elite members get a bonus on Base Points from every stay: 20% at Silver, 80% at Gold, 100% at Diamond and 120% at Diamond Reserve. Base Points are 10 per $1 spent on a stay at most Hilton brands, and fewer at brands such as Home2 Suites and Homewood Suites. For how those points are earned on a stay and what each tier adds, see Hilton Honors Points Explained.
What Diamond and Diamond Reserve Add
Diamond adds space-available upgrades up to a one-bedroom suite, executive lounge access and premium WiFi, along with the 100% bonus.
Diamond Reserve keeps those and adds a guaranteed 4pm late check-out, a Confirmable Upgrade Reward up to a suite at booking for stays up to seven nights, exclusive customer service, Premium Club access and the 120% bonus.
Where Credit Cards Fit
Hilton's co-branded cards can shortcut the lower tiers. The Hilton Honors Aspire Card comes with Diamond status, and the Surpass and Business cards offer a spend path to Diamond. Diamond Reserve is earned on stays and spend, so plan on the hotel bills rather than the card. Check each card's page for the status it gives today.
Keeping Your Status
Hilton counts qualifying nights, stays and spend within a calendar year, so your account is the place to confirm the date your current status runs through. Older guides told you to bank extra nights for the next year. Hilton has moved away from rollover nights, so don't plan around them.
Diamond members also have a one-time status extension after three years as Diamond with 250 lifetime nights or 500,000 Base Points.
Which Tier to Aim For
If you stay around 50 nights a year, Diamond is the realistic goal and the Aspire card can get you there faster. Diamond Reserve makes sense only if you already spend $18,000 a year at Hilton hotels and want the guaranteed late check-out and suite upgrade reward. Look at your last year of Hilton stays and pick the tier your nights and spend already reach.
